Scotland Win PokerStars.com APAT National Online League

Scotland have won the National Online League, following fifteen weeks of high quality and often quite dramatic, online poker action.

Leading Wales by two match points going into the final match of the season, the Scots needed to finish second, and they achieved that in fine style, finishing runners up to Ireland on the night, but securing the four match points required to take the League title.

The honours were very much up for grabs when we came down to the final sixteen players, with four Scottish and Welsh remaining, amongst a clutch of Irish and Yorkshire and Humber players.  However the Welsh fell quickly from that point and the Scots had secured the League title before the final table was reached.

A delighted Irish team won their first maximum points return of the campaign, with Kevin O’Hanlon finishing runner up to West Midlands Brian Yates in tonight’s fixture.

Ricky Jones enjoyed another deep finish to win the Individual table over the fifteen matches, beating long time leader Tom Clark of Scotland into second.

Elsewhere, APAT offered a glimpse of details for the National Online Cup, a new knockout team tournament featuring teams of four that will commence in the next couple of weeks.  Further details are to be announced later in the week.
