 Well we faded a potential £250 2
night hotel stay in Sheffield by getting Susan looked after at home for Day 2 which I was happy with, what with fuel eating out etc would of turned my £55 investment into a £400 plus poker tournament which is not the point of getting in on the cheap, still better than paying full price and then expenses on top I suppose.

Arrived half an hour late Thursday, 1.5  hours early today, get it right on Sunday hopefully.

There is a match on in Sheffield today plus Christmas shoppers made more sense to get here earlier today.

Cheers for the gl messages, appreciated, usual updates on Facebook and Twitter (Erimus1).

I was stood outside on Friday night for a bit of fresh air, and traffic was flying by I noticed a bus pulled up and its destination was highlighted, Crystal Peaks was the area it was headed to.

I am sure I met this person in Vegas on one of my nights out, I wonder if she was originally from Sheffield, nice to have a bus named after you I suppose.

This may or may not be true, try googling Crystal Peaks.

Ok let"s do Day 2, report to follow or a 1 line sentence of disappointment, whatever will be will be.

Oh yes I forgot We are top of the league ( for a few hours at least UTB).

40k at break had AA 2cd hand no action, all people to my left are 25 bigs and under first major loss Raise Q9 clubs cut off, blinds been passive so ok with it, Bb defends with A2 diamonds from 20 bbs, flip 9 high 2 diamonds he jams, sigh call, probs a draw, I was right, need to fade, didn"t, since then hit 2cd best hand s few times going into level 11 with 40k which is 25 bigs, need to get lucky in next hour or so, still in so got a chance.

Peaked at 110k, unfortunately back to 61k, AK v a pair and a missed flush draw and 2cd pair, can"t remember the hands I got to get up there, hard grind, 62k going back to 1200/2400, still playable, shoveable. Let"s have the heater after the dinner break.

Break time, ground it back to 95k going into 2k/4K, 53 left 38 paid, not thinking about that, work still to be done, flopped a house with AA, got one street of value, sigh, onwards.

Made Day 3, 20 big blinds and a dream, got lucky well before the cash JJ v AA aipf, J on the river, moaned it in, embracing that variance, unbelievably card and spot dead last 2 levels, was down to 15bigs with 15mins left, called a min raise with J 10, couldn"t be bothered thinking and just jammed the 10 high flop, Busto or robusto, not the most sparkling poker play but got me to that 20 bbs, which in your head is better than below that mark.

So we are trophey hunting tomorrow, the cash, meh,  take it or leave it, laddering not a consideration, it"s all up top let"s go get it, nb if on stream attitude may change, need sleep now.

Finished 15th for £1440, laddered a few spots, that was not the idea, had AA, serial 3 bettor was still stacking his chips so no interest, won the blinds and antes, perhaps missed 1 spot with A10 in small blind, will watch stream repeat to see , finally ran A9 into A10, turned the flush draw but didn"t get there.

Overall over the 2.5 days did little wrong was always between 20/40 bigs, the elusive double with 40 didn"t arrive, no regrets about the way I played and the Jacks sucking out on the Aces meant I was freerolling,£55 into £1440 will take.

Sorry to dissapointed you all if you googled Chrystal Peaks, apparently it"s a shopping centre in Sheffield, peace, 25/25 next, onwards.

Had a quick peek at the GPS stream  from day 3, re the A  10 hand in small blind, was such an obvious shove spot ( even without knowing the hole cards), Pretty sure Matt would not of called so not a biggie, ( he folded AQ to my utg shove  with 66 for 15 bigs the night before), I got a double by KQ calling and winning that flip.a raise from utg maybe a fold but to a min raise from the button, mistake on my part,  missed opportunity, never mind move on and just next time go for it.

I am just about getting over that trip now what with 3 X 4hr drives and 16 + hours of poker over 3 days, making a mistake at that stage was inevitable, tbh I don"t think I would of lasted the full day if I had got lucky, got home and was drained, although I did manage to play the online game, lost a flip to Leigh I think, played the Monday game at rainbow lost with AK v 88 v QQ, the Q folded to my reshove, how  was I to know the guy behind had flopped a set of eights behind, even told the table before he flipped, cards reading skills, lol, he is a bigger nit than me so was pretty obvious, the Queens who had folded flopped a set on the turn, if she gets it in pre she trebles up, Betty stop limping every hand, lol.

The glutton for punishment that I am, I decided to play a sat for the 25/25 last night, there were 10 seats guarenteed, it made 12 + £85, I managed to squeeze in with 5 bigs, we agreed all the 12 players paid an extra £10 to make a 13th seat, so a saving of £160, not the greatest value sat but the £160 is better in my account than Grosvnors, playing Thursday night as out for a curry on Friday and Boro are at home on Saturday.

A couple of hands from last night, I raise QQ from 12 bigs, get min raised from a 16 bob stack, can you guess what he has ?, lol pretty obvious AA or KK, can"t fold, board runs out a 6 high straight, choppity chop.

There are 15 left there are 4 shorties. Inc myself, 2 massive stacks and 1 or 2 not sure if they will get there.

The chipleader by a mile just piles a load of chips over the line, the 2cd chip leader ( who could fold to seat no problem there is no need to get involved) looks perplexed and after tanking 5 minutes reshoves, it"s the old classic AA v KK in a sat were folding KK in this spot is just the obvious play, the AA held, and knocked out the other guy, leaving 14 left, a 3big blind gets knocked out in the next few hands and we have squeezed into a seat.

Facebook also reminded me of a nice memory for Dave Howard from 2 years ago when he blinked 25/25 in Brighton, making me a pound or 2 in the process.

I don"t know how, but I have somehow got permission to go to New York for my birthday, middle of January so looking to see if there are any bargains tbh it"s highly unlikely I will go, the usual logistics regarding Susan but if any bargains are about and arrangements can be made its a possibility.

If anything interesting happens in the 25/25 will update but if no updates assume it didn"t happen and if this is the last post of the year I would like to to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a great New year, run good, be lucky stay healthy.

If i remember right this was the one I had 10% of and got me off to a flying starting on the staking side. Make more on the staking side then when I play the game myself.

Theres a flight from Newcastle for £350. Dunno how much hotels cost though.

Thats 21-28 Jan btw.

try lowcostusa.co.uk - you"ll have to fly from London or Manchester (or Edinburgh/Glasgow but I expect that might be more expensive) though so factor that in. They do deals on flight/hotel as well.
