Award 1 - APAT Hall Of Fame
« on: December 19, 2011, 17:25:58 PM »
The nominations for the 2011 APAT Hall Of Fame are as follows.  The award winner and voting totals for each nominee will be announced in this thread on December 30th.  Each member may only cast one vote.

Darren Shallis

Darren "Newportlad" Shallis is a Welsh international who has had a monumental 8 cashes in individual APAT National Amateur Championship events since November 2007.

His greatest achievement at APAT was in winning the Irish Amateur Poker Championship in June 2008, but Darren has also won a Silver Medal at the European Amateur Championship in November 2010 and final tabled six APAT National Amateur Championship events in total, a record.

Darren has also captained Cardiff in the APAT Online National League.

Ger Smyth

Ger "Duke3016" Smyth is a true gentleman and the heart and soul of of everything that is good about APAT.  In addition, he is the author of the largest thread on the forum; in both views (132,000+) and posts (4350+).  Opening with the immortal words: "Given that my brain cells are shrugging off their mortal coils at an alarming rate, I must be mad to start this", duke has indeed been attempting the impossible since May 2008.

Despite regaling us with hundreds of stories during that time, the author hasn"t absolutely clarified whether "the impossible" relates to his attempts to win at poker (fail), understand family psychology (oh dear), or to leave a bar prior to the establishment"s taps running dry (hell shall freezeth over).

In poker terms, Ger has captained the Liverpool team in the APAT National Online League and has recorded cashes in both the World Championship Of Online Poker main event (2010) and the European Amateur Poker Championship (2007).

John Murray

John "MintTrav" Murray has cashed at more APAT events than any other player.  His eleven cashes include six in Amateur National Championshp events; where his best result was winning the United Kingdom Amateur Poker Championship in April 2010, final tabling 5 events in total.

In addition, John has captained Ireland and was part of the Irish Team that won the European Amateur Team Championship in 2008.  He has also final tabled the individual event at the UK Team Championship in each of the last 2 years and taken a Bronze medal Captaining Ireland at the 2011 United Kingdom Team Championship.

John has also captained the Solent team in the APAT National Online League.

Leigh Wiltshire

Leigh "Chipaccrual" Wiltshire joined APAT in 2007, enjoying success as a player prior to becoming involved in the administration of the tour.

A Welsh international, Leigh has cashed in 3 successive European Amateur Poker Championship events (2007-2009), before captaining the APAT team to victory at the 2010 United Kingdom Team Championship.

It is perhaps in his role as a member of the APAT management team that Leigh has made his greatest contribution.  Having coordinated the Regional teams initially, Leigh became Head of Online for APAT in 2010 delivering outstanding initiatives like the "bunch of fives" promotion, delivering a merchandising range, while contributing extremely popular threads to the forum like the legendary "APAT Advent Calendar" posts.

A member of our much liked live updating team with Tighty, Leigh also contributed the "chipcounts at a glance thread" while offering witty and expert commentary at our streamed events.
