B v B Calling ranges
« on: February 06, 2012, 12:33:24 PM »
Final Table of £50 at DTD, 6 remain - yes, be surprised!

220 entries, 10k starting stack,
£3575 for 1st
£2090
£1254
£880
£660
£495

I have c 450,000 CL has closer to 600,000

10000/20000/1000

SB (Tina Bandyle, who I now discover is a serial casher) is short stacked and has taken to shoving into my BB in every unopened pot. I folded and showed an A the first time (A rag off), this may have been a mistake in that it may have given her licence to repeat the process. Second time I had pure rubbish, this is the third time in succession...

Range to call? She has just under 100,000

Any pair, any ace, K10+ for me.

I may tighten that range up a bit dependent on average stack, becomes more difficult when there are a lot of short stacks on the table.

Assume average stack was prob 15 bigs?

I thought that just after I"d done it, then, when she did it the second time I thought it even more

^This

It"s not going to be too damaging to our stack.  Impossible to get a read if it"s the third time on a row, but got to imagine it"s ATC.  Any queen or higher is probably going to mean you are ahead, but at worst case, you"d want to have live cards.

i"d call as wide as -
Ax+,Kx+,Q3s+,Q7o+,J7s+,J9o+,T8s+,22+

if i thought that they were capable of pushing 65%+ then i"d widen even more tbh to -J2s+,J5o+,T2s+,T6o+,95s+,97o+,86s+,76s

Am calling pretty with pretty much any picture card here. Certainly never folding an ace, and definately not showing her I have done it, you might as well just pass her your bb every time after that as she should be smashing you to pieces

tbh - I misjudged the player in question, made a stereotyped assumption about her range to shove, and it was only when she did it again that it dawned on me that I"d got it wrong.

It"s interesting that the ranges for calling suggested here range from

Any pair, any ace, K10+ for me.

I may tighten that range up a bit dependent on average stack, becomes more difficult when there are a lot of short stacks on the table.

I"m pretty ok with my shoving ranges, but I haven"t had as much practice on calling ranges...

...

I don"t see how that"s relevant btw

If there are a few stacks with only 2 or 3 blinds then it"s perfectly sound ICM to ladder - but the average stack is neither here nor there
