Home Game Hand comments - Please
« on: January 12, 2008, 11:12:09 AM »
any comments welcome...tis bugging me still after 12hours!!!

blinds 20/40. 3000 starting stack..3rd hand...

folded to SB...who makes the blind..I have 93o in BB..check.

9c 4s  8d.  SB checks.

now my thoughts.....he had just won previous toruney and won £60.  He isn"t a "good" player either- and was simply happy with his win..and had called the previous 2 hands then mucked...i didn"t put him on pocket pair and certainly not 4"s. as he limped in.  now with top pair but low kicker..wanted to take it there...I bet 200...he re-raised 500.   I just cudnt put him on anything good..did he get lucky and catch 84?... i thought maybe 4 with a kicker..8 with a kicker..if he had 9 and a kicker he"d have bet with top pair i was sure...so i called....(mistake?..re-raise?)

Turn  kh   now he bets 1000....now I"m in trouble as he could have k in pocket easily, but still thinking he have raised preflop with K.

Basically I knew i had the best hand..just an overwhelming feeling I had on him and the hand.....but 93..I just was battling with myself...i put him on 8 with a kicker maybe 4 with a kicker....but i folded..as was scared about my kicker and the  kh

he showed  8s qd

Your bet of 200 into a pot of 80 ... hmmm. If that doesn"t take it down it"s an insta-fold no matter how well you know the opponent.

Yep, you"ve bet 200 into an 80 pot.  Why??  A pot sized bet should be more than enough here.
Once you"ve been called, and an overcard comes on turn and he bets out big.  Instant Fold, and move onto the next hand.

No need to get involved early on with a marginal hand.

200 into 80 post yes, very bad play i agree..but it was a home game and the players involved don"t play " standard poker" !!  but i do agree.

Would you fold even though you have a complete read on the opponent ( Pot calling kettle black - as I did fold.. but just curious?)
