Makes me kinda less dissapointed at not being able to make this one now!  :-\

I think Des said that he thought that anyone who wanted to play should have no trouble getting a seat (or words to that effect). I have to say that I think he will be proved right, though not necessarily for the reasons anticipated.

Airport - Wiener Neustadt 45 miles (AutoRoute, fastest route).

45 miles in a Taxi, on a Bank Holiday = Much moolah I reckon.

No help with other questions I"m afraid.

Another option people might like to look at...

Ryanair Stansted to Graz - 21st to 24th - £162 return (currently).
Flight times are a bit more sociable.

Direct train from Graz - Wiener Neustadt €25 2 hour journey.

to try and find user friendly info on varous ways to get there, flights, trains and coaches you can"t do no worse that having a look around a site that a lot of our travel reps use call seat61.com, it"s one of those sites that you could spend hours on in the same way that the first visit to google earth can catch you.

For those going abroad there is an area that shows by aircraft type and route where are the best places to sit on each.

A bit late for me, but i spotted a Ryanair flight from East Midlands going to Bratislava Vienna for £60 + a return on Monday of £30. Just the flight times are late and Bratislava is a bit further away? But hey-more options!  :D

Just to add my twopence worth, I think the train option from england would be a non-starter for most as you are looking at about £250-£300 and that is dependant on what eurostar want to charge you for the privilege, as their prices can fluctuate like the airlines!

If anyone does want to enquire then the best place to get it all booked in one place would probably be this lot

http://www.rail-canterbury.co.uk

as they can do eurostar (to brussels), THALYS (to cologne) and the citynight sleeper (to vienna) and a local connection to Wiener Neustadt. This would be my preferred route, and the way I will be going if I do qualify, as I work for the railway and can get there considerably cheaper than the estimate above.

Interesting.

Works out at £118.88 once taxes are added.  That also assumes no hold luggage - which is how I"d be travelling anyway.

Certainly cheaper than £220.

Now need to see how Bratislava to WN works out on the train/coach.

There"s good and bad news on that front.

The coach takes 2 hours from Bratislava to WN.  The bad news, the last connection leaves at 5pm.  The flight lands in Bratislava at 9pm...

No flights out on the Thursday to Bratislava either which would have also been an option...

I am thinking of coming over for this even if I dont qualify online!(close but so far twice now).

Conscious on trying to keep costs down to a minimum.

If I go, I probably will be going out by myself and flying on the saturday morning and leaving early on the monday as need to get back into work. I am likely to be flying on the BA flight from Gatwick.

Firstly, who is any one getting similar flight times and secondly as I am probably going by myself has any one got a double room, so I could split costs and stay in that?

Would appreciate any assistance.
