Total tosh OP and some of the replies.

The last 4 LIVE final tables I"ve reached (excluding BCPC lol) I got AA once on each and been cracked each time. Sometimes the longshots come in. Sometimes they come in a few in a row. If you"ve ever tried FAV backing on the horses you"ll find that favourites never seem to come in!

Sure it sucks when it happens but it isn"t rigged. Some sites are luckier for some just like some underpants are lucky for others. Play where you feel better or luckier, but don"t blame the software, the dealers or anyone else but variance (or yourself).

I"ve only been reg"d with Stars since week 1 of the online league and have to say I"m already sick sick sick, despite finishing 4th in the 1st online league. .... In that short time, and for the 5th time last night, I have lost after flopping a FH. I would never suggest for a minute that anything is rigged against me (why would it be), but I have no qualms whatsoever at suggesting that the cards dealt are nowhere near as random as it"s suggested. The large numbers of AA all in pre I"ve lost with is just horrible, way too often again (IMO) to be random
...

As a point of comparison I"ve been reg"d with Stars for several years and played a couple of thousand tournaments - and in my experience sequences of bad luck and good luck even themselves out so you end up with an overall range of expected values.

This in particular just highlights that a lot of people have got very little idea about what "random" looks like and the nature of "randomness".

I agree that Pokerstars is random and honest. Variance and bad beats are part of the game online, just as they are in casinos.

I don"t agree with the horse racing analogy though.

What a great idea. Self protection. I seem to recall a young lad on Eastenders trying this. Mmm, come to think of it he didn"t turn out so good. Oh well just keep on taking the bad beats etc.....

I may be god (as may you be at the same time) it would all depend on you perception but this is not the time or the place for that *lol*.

Sorry I made the last post on my phone on a train so it is not clear, to be honest I am a bit amazed we are even talking about this on this forum. Most of the big sites have good RNG"s but to the best of my understanding even the best of the best are not TOTALLY random but then again neither is somebody riffling a deck of cards, this is not an advantage to any one player of course. The Pokerstar"s RNG has been reported as one of the best around. I have played a lot on "Stars and it does not seem any more or less random than sites like Sky, DTD or live venues (if anything I would expect it to be better). I could tell you about bad runs I have had and good runs that I have had and they have more than less evened themselves out (actually I am sure I have run slightly above expected EV over my lifetime).

I would also say I respectfully disagree with comments above, some people are luckier on some sites than others. They are not, you can say they historically have been but this makes no difference to what will happen from this point onwards. Confidence may be affected of course so players who believe they are luckier on a certain site may actually play better on that site in which case playing there is correct but they are playing better not luckier.

Paul is right about taking a break sometimes. I have had to do so recently and it was only when I came back I realized how many simple mistakes I was making the bad luck feels worse when you are playing bad I find.
