Virus Alert On The Site
« on: June 05, 2012, 18:29:51 PM »
Hi all,

Service was interrupted for a period today as some members reported receiving a virus alert message on typing the APAT web address.  Phil and I conducted several tests and found evidence of malware, which was removed immediately.

The site is back up and running securely now but we would encourage any members who have been on the site today to run a virus check on their computer, to ensure you remove any infection which might have occurred.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks,

Des.

I did previously hence the post. Running full scan before I open up APAT again to be safe.

I assume browsing is ok on other sites? Or even playing this online poker  thing everyone is on about!.....Or should I go read one of those book things?

Just for your info guys, when I logged in to the site just now, I got a message from my AV (MSE) saying "detected threats are being cleaned, no further action is required". Not another virus I hope.

Edit: A bit more info. My AV found this "Exploit:Java/CVE-2012-0507.O". It seems a coincidence that I did get a Java update pop-up a couple of days ago. I don"t know if the two a connected.

One other thing, the fonts on this site have changed for me (looks bigger/bolder). Is this a change you"ve made on the site or is it something to do with my pc?

Cheers Phil,

Well my fonts are back to normal. I did a quick AV scan and it came back ok. I"ll do a full one later. Checked with Malwarebytes and that just found the usual "PUPs" that were all to do with my online poker sites, so I just ignore them rather than deleting...is that ok to do?

No problems Dean, let me know if you spot anything else, its much appreciated.

Potentially unwanted programs are sometimes false alerts, would double check they are Poker setup / install / exes and nothing masquerading as them, would hate to say "yeah you"ll be fine ignore them"... and come back to bite you on the bum  :-\
