We should have a place to put our bad beat stories
« on: February 16, 2008, 10:54:45 AM »
Sometimes it"s fun to read other peoples bad beat stories.  It helps us all realise that when it feels like the Poker gods have started using their immense powers against us, that others have been there, bought the T-shirt, won the speedboat and had worse times than we thought were possible!  I agree anyone posting a bad beat story should not be looking for sypathy or condolences, but we should expect general merriment and mirth!

;D

So anyway my bad beat story.....10d 10,000k guarantee freezeout tourny, second in chips with 87k+ blinds 1/2k  47 people left  already in the money, UTG with 36k raises to 6k I"m next to act look down at AcAd.....I reraise to 30k knowing if he"s got any kind of decent hand he"s going to push......he thinks for ages then types lets gamble....goes allin, I obviously call he turns over AsTs........you"ve guessed the flop KsJs7s............

I eventually went out in 21st spot for a measelt $70

I hope you all have a nice laugh at that one....I know I would if it was someone else who"d posted it!

;D ;D ;D

You want bad beat stories? Get yerself off to Vegas during the WSOP... sit in the corridor, at the Rio, between the casino and the WSOP area... there will be a constant stream of people, heading out of the tournament area, on their mobile phones boring the pants off their nearest and dearest with all the gory details of how some clown hit their "1 outer" on the river.

Give it 10 mins... you"ll never want to hear another BBS!

This one"s for Biffa only!! Everyone else should not read because it"s not a bad beat complaint it"s just a little story.

I"m in the DTD live Friday night £75 and it"s bubble time.

I"m sat next to Tikay who I"ve just met for the first time (bloody nice guy, thanks for the coffee  ;D)

Tikay"s routing for me because I"ve promised to fix his glasses because he can"t see to fix them without having them on in the first place.

Anyway I"m fairly short stacked and get AJ so push and get called by 10 j so looking good.

Flop comes AA3 so I"m even better. Turn"s a king and river fills his straight with the queen. Just checked it and apparently he was 1.6% after the flop and 9.1% after the turn.

Hope that"s bad enough Biffa and gave you a bit of a laugh. To the others who don"t like bad beat stories tough you shouldn"t be reading this thread  ;D

Once again this is not a complaint about anything so please no 50p fines. I didn"t moan because I never do. He put his chips in and that"s his choice because he paid for them. It was more to let Tikay know who he was sat next to and that he had his glasses fixed by Evilpie. It was a pleasure to meet you Tikay and I"ll see you there again next time  :)

It"s bad beat "stories" people don"t want to hear, whether you"re complaining or not.

And yet you still keep reading them  ;D ;D

Hey I can understand that for people who"ve been playing for years it starts to get a little bit boring cos you"ve heard it all before. For people like me who"ve only been playing for 4 months though it"s still a bit new so please tolerate it for just a few more months when I"ll be just as fed up you are  ;D ;D

It wasn"t a bad beat story it was a story that happened to contain a bad beat. It wasn"t my fault it"s just how it was.

You did read it though didn"t you??

Go on admit it I won"t tell anyone. No one else is reading this thread anyway so they"ll never know. It"ll be between you, me and Biffa  ;)

Seriously though. Like I said before a little tolerance for us newer poker players who"ve not heard them all before would be nice. I"m the first to admit that I don"t like to hear people moaning about bad beats but just talking about them is fine. It"s only when they get dragged out that they get annoying............

a bit like this one is now  ;D

Please let me tell you this.

Mr Evilpie - I"ll just call him Evil for now - is the most genuine of Gentleman, & wonderful table company.

His exit was almost funny, it was so surreal, dominating his Oppo, who needed perfect perfect to win, & even called it in, &, like magic, hit both perfects. And Evil, who"d grinded & ducked & dived all night, with barely any chips, who"d picked the perfect spot to move, took his exit like a true APAT-er - a handshake, smile, & "gg". I felt so sorry for him, but also, vey proud of the way he handled himself in bitter defeat.

I"d broken my specs, as Evil mentioned, & Evil fixed them for me in a trice. I can"t tell you how lovely it is to bump into APAT-ers in the Cardrooms, be introduced, become pals.

I lost my specs yesterday, after leaving DTD, so Evil"s efforts were short-lived, but then I found them again this morning. But now they"ve broken again, ffs.  I really must get my eyes mended.

Evil, it"s a pleasure to know you, & I hope we meet again quite soon.
