Getting pissed off watching some TV this morning, and seeing how everyone in London is suddenly excited by the torch relay - just because it hasn"t been in London for the past seven weeks, doesn"t mean it hasn"t been happening..... however now that it"s in London, it"s headline news. The pundits and commentators seem amazed by the atmosphere, and the fact that people are lining the streets to see the torch - ffs it"s been like that all over the country for nearly two months, without making headline news.     Amazingly, Britain does exist outside of London!

On the contrary, Steve, we"ve been following the torch on the news since it entered the UK, seeing all the enthusiasm that the media didn"t think would exist, "there will be no interest in the country seeing the torch for London"s games", I think it has surprised everybody. If anything it made me make sure I was out early for when it came past my mum"s street last week.

Without sounding as pi$$ed off with it as Steve  ;) Must be very nice if you live in London. Must be nice if your local amenities have been improved, you have had some fantastic development in your area which generated new jobs, increased prospects, boosted the local economy, more income coming in from travellers overseas and everyones smiling, slapping backs and have a massive chuffy on.

I"ve lived in a London borough for the last 7 years since they announced London would host, and in that time it has cost us over an extra £1,000 in council tax and because we are nowhere near the venues, we will get none of the advantages you mention. We didn"t even get preferential treatment for tickets, I applied for over £2,000 worth of tickets and didn"t a single one for any competition. To my mind it must be nice living outside London

I have been looking forward to watching lots of events for a couple of weeks now - I"ve observed that big sports fans like me want to stay at home so that we can channel hop from swimming to boxing to football etc, and this is very much the plan for this weekend, wheras people who aren"t such big sports fans (my girlfriend for example) really want to go to an event.

I have to say though last night"s ceremony was superb and really made me want to be more involved

TBH I was fairly curious as to how Danny Boyle was going to pull off the spectacular with a load of sheep and a village green with a few cricketers but when those chimneys started rising and the whole scene changed, I have to admit my enthusiasm rose pretty dramatically. The "doves" at the end were phenomenal and a whole load in between was breathtaking.

Amazing day for british athletes especially at home country. Congrat!

Sadly an embarrassing evening after stewards made a big mistake after runners finished heptathlon. Disqualified silver medal winner wrongful after stewards inquiry saw her at lane 6 instead 5. Pretty unlucky but after a couple of reclamations and nail-biting hour their survey brought a happy end. Needless !
