Mr Brightside
« on: August 08, 2012, 15:10:35 PM »
Have contemplated a blog for a while.

I was worried that It would start off all guns blazing, then I"d lose interest, end up posting the odd poker update, and really not getting anything out of it apart from the odd whinge, "lost another flip" etc.

However, this got me thinking.. I used to be optimistic, definitely half full Guinness, rather than half gone kind of guy.

So I"ve decided. This blog will be all about how well I run, not just in poker but in life.

Poker, I will NOT post ANY, not one, bad beat story.

Poker, I will post the hell out of every time I get lucky, run well, cooler someone. Apologies in advance.

My personal life, I will aim to reflect on past relationships, and get the positives from them. This might be tricky  8)

And of course how lucky I am with my job, my wonderful friends both "up north" and further afield, APAT and other, and the ever amazingness that I had something to with it, that is my gorgeous daughter, Anna.

I want to get me back thinking the way I used to.

Thus the reason for the title of the blog.

This is the start.

Relationships.. will put more thoughts on this over the course of time. Fair to say I"ve had a fair number of relationships in my time, some short, some long. Was married for 10 years, had the best thing ever happen to me which was the arrival of Anna, so I"d never change any of them.

Have learnt lots from them, and at one point was going to call this blog "50 shades of mental" due to the approx number of relationships over my 40+ years.. and how most of them at some point appeared to end up a little deranged.

Then I got to thinking, maybe its not the women I"ve been involved with. Maybe its me.

To be fair I"m not the easiest person to be in a relationship with.

Amongst many personality issues, a stupid sense of humour and drinking a little too much Guinness...

I run with the help of a few others my own business, which means a lot of hours, definitely not a 9-5 job, and with it being IT and "downtime" taking usually out of hours (sometimes early hours) work then I can be working at stupid times and lots of hours.

Secondly, I have Anna. I see Anna 5 days out of 7, and as you"ll get to see over time she is my world. Sharing time with the times we share with someone else has always been an problem.

Lastly, and probably more importantly in my relationship fails is poker and my friends. My friends, ones I"ve known since school, friends I"ve known only a short time, near and far and right up there at the top in importance in my life. And trips away, APAT tournaments far and wide. I love them. Wouldn"t miss them for the world.

So I"ve come to conclusion. Relationships aren"t for me.

So.. I"ve taken a dramatic step. To be announced soooooon.

And no. Its not a jump over into the gay side.

Sorry Stu x

So.. I"ve taken a dramatic step. To be announced soooooon.

Since my divorce which was 8 years ago, I"ve been renting, had the latest place for a number of years which I finally managed to buy the end of last year.. since then Anna has been "can we have a dog can.. can we.. can we..." since giving up on relationship with the female kind have taken the step and today welcome a new addition to the TC family...

We pulled up at the house and she was waiting on the front garden, inside she feel asleep on Anna"s knee. She knew what she was doing I"m sure. I could see in Annas face there was no way we were leaving without signing the documents. She moves in on Friday.

Just need to think of a name...

Happy days.
