Here"s the thing.

There is no reason (other than time pressure) to rush that drive.

Do it in lumps. Why not drive to LA and visit the Bike or the Commerce?

Ouch! Now thats put more thoughts into my head.. trip to LA would be fantastic and probably somewhere I wouldn"t have chance to get to. In fact I"m 50/50 as I"ve been to Vegas and going back next year to maybe just go to LA instead. Checked.. and its 3.5 hours drive. Thats much happier days.. or could I drive to LA spend a day / night there then off to Vegas.. 4 and bit hour drive.. all doable.. in fact I think this is now the official plan

Thats the one Chris.. actually its a place called Todmorden about 10 mins from Halifax. Have been before for a day trip and can"t remember seeing a casino there..   any pointers?

As for the drive, driving through DV is not the problem here, it"s the drive over the
Mountains that is. That is irrelevant though.

Driving in US is a doddle and 7 hours to do 400+ miles is nothing like 7 hours (or 400 miles) on uk roads.
Set off early, hit some diners along the way and drive into Vegas at night FTW.

From Fresno to Vegas you should take 2 days and go via Yosemite. Death Valley is pretty dull TBH. Yosemite is one of the nicest places on earth.

Cheers Stu.. I"m presuming that Yosemite isnt something I can do in a day? Starting to think that I may try and get a few weeks out there at this rate. Too many places to visit. Was initially thinking that the job would take a week then stay an additional long weekend and do LA and Vegas.. hate missing out on places especially if its as good as you say it is.
