I respectfully resign
« on: October 16, 2012, 16:45:39 PM »
Good evening APATers.

I"ve thought long and hard before making this post.

I"ve decided to "resign" my APAT membership. I"ve thoroughly enjoyed playing APAT events. The banter, the contributions of the organisers and most of all the respect players show each other. It no doubt has contributed to my success in the poker world and for that I will be forever grateful.

I"m proud to have been part of such a great community but feel the time is right to retire my amateur status. I am still working but do hope one day to play full time.

I regret not having won an event and came so close in Cov (grease Brian Martin). My biggest regret however is being overlooked for numerous national team events. Would have loved to have played more of a contribution in those events. Would like to publicly thank Rob Swindells for picking me to play for England last year. It was truly a great honour.

I will still frequent this forum but probably more as a lurker than a contributor.

Best of luck APAT

Your first ever recipient of the round of applause (bring it back!)

A sad day imo.

Best of luck going pro, and hope to bump into you in Bristol for the upcoming UKIPT :)

Hopefully you"ll consider playing for blonde in the forum champs? (I believe they are open to (semi) pros as well as amateurs?).

thin veiled "I"m going pro" brag IMO

Didn"t know you could resign from APAT (where was Liv"s resignation post?)

But seriously, all the very best with your future ventures. I hope you earn enough to buy some decent clobber.

I don"t think you can...........

My view on this subject is simple.  Once an APATer, always and APATer.  By players developing their game through the APAT structure and then going on to amazing success around the world can only be a good thing for the reputation of our tournaments.

It also shows players what can be achieved.  I would like to think that all of these players who are going on to great achievements will give a little credit to APAT at some point.

This takes us back to the great debate of when does a poker player become a pro.  I don"t think this hurts to keep it a reasonably grey area on this topic as I think Des has got Liv"s current situation spot on and it would be great to see her around an APAT table again

All the best George, wherever you end up playing. I know people here will be following your progress. Keep in touch and give us a TR when you win a big one.
