Well, 2012 was pretty good to me in poker terms, I achieved some of my longterm goals like playing more DTD Deepstacks and cashed in a couple but the cashes were pretty min.

For 2013

Run seriously deep in a DTD Deepstack
Play some of the other tour events - GPS, GUKPT, UKIPT - and make the money so my Hendon Mob has an entry without
the letters DTD on it
Play more APAT events
Continue to enjoy myself at the poker table

and finally, with an eye to the thought that lightning rarely strikes twice**, let alone thrice and beyond...

Run deep (FT) any GP that DTD may run (hopefully there will be a Golden Chip reward attached again)

** but try telling Roy Sullivan that!

POKER ASPIRATIONS FOR 2012.

Play more
Play some big online events (e.g. Sunday Million, Sunday Warm-Up etc)
Play a DTD Monthly Deepstack
Play a Chezger Live Deepstack (nudge nudge, hint hint)
Improve upon 7th Place in an APAT Main Event (Hold "em)
Win Something

Outside of Poker, I really want to get myself into a better employment situation but ideally without changing my employer and lose 2 stone (more on that later).

I posted this on my blog 12 months ago and on reflection give myself a C- for the poker and a big fat E for the non-poker.

I failed to increase my frequency of play or play any big online events or win anything (unless a leg of the online league counts). At the time I posted DTD deepstacks were £300 but swiftly increased to £500 putting me off. however, January"s is back to £300 so I am considering a splash.

I did play in a Chezger (a truly great weekend, thanks again Ger) and improve on my previous 7th place finish in an APAT main event with 2nd in Cardiff. Add to that the experience of captaining an England team, several great weekends and 3 more medals, it"s been a good year  :)

I WILL increase my frequency of online play next year which will include some satelites to larger events. I will also keep a ledger for the first time and play more live cash.

None of this is rocket science and I"ve probably tried to remind myself of most of it before, but I think I"m going to have a poster printed with all of my following personal golden rules:

1) watching TV, chatting on Facebook and booking holidays online are not conducive to good poker. Its highly unlikely that you will make the right decision about whether to call a shove whilst trying to work out whether a self catering cottage in the Cotswolds has wifi or not.
2) Never ever play Omaha. You"re crap at it and only make a fool of yourself when you try. If forced to battle the beast with four cards, maybe you"re taking part in a series of events in which Omaha is one of many variants, fold as long as your patience will allow, then shove with any four cards. You"ll have outs.
3) Do not play poker if any of the following apply (1) You are ill  (2) You are tired (3) You have just bust out of another tournament and have thrown various items of footwear against the wall (4) You have just been contacted by the ex girlfriend who cheated on you and you swore would be first against the wall to be shot should the revolution come (5) You arrive home at 2am after a night sampling various and numerous alcoholic beverages
4) Do not complain about bad beats or running bad. Its not important, there"s always someone worse off than you and you will only succeed in making yourself look like a complete ****
5) Play live more. OK, the nearest cardroom worth the effort may be at least 2 hours away, but you should be able to find an excuse to try
6) Play Goliath again. There are some truly shocking players in attendance, far worse than would ever take part in an APAT national, and it represents your best chance of serious money.
7) Play a few satellites for once. You normally do OK at those.
8 ) If there is a specific online tournament you have set your heart on playing, do the obvious thing and enter well in advance or set an alarm for around 10 minutes before shuffle-up-and-deal
9) Stick to no limit Hold'em. You"re half decent at it, although you may also play stud variants occasionally to keep yourself amused.

2) To win an APAT individual Gold to match the team Gold
3) To run as good as Carl Pilgrim
4) To win more accessories as bounties (Cheers Grant)

Well as a fairly new player ( only really taken poker seriously this year ) and member of APAT, my goals for the start of 2012 were not massive.

However just of late something seems to be clicking into place ( or I"m just a lucky sod which is more likely  ;D ).
With a 16th place finish in a 9000 player Big $11 and some rather good sng form, a win in a 180 player $15 and a $60 18 player being the best of a half decent bunch.

So I was thinking 2013 is the time to dip into the live events on APAT and elsewhere if lucky enough.

Well my luck this year did hold out and I managed to be kindly picked by Wayne for the Yorkshire team for Luton, and then I managed to grab the GPS seat at the league freeroll!!

So 2013

Win Luton  ;D ( oops forgot Carl"s playing )
Win Sheffield GPS leg  ;D ( how hard can it be? )
Win a big chunk online  ;D ( well I was close this year )
And keep enjoying it, bad beats happen but you give them out too.

I"ve really enjoyed it with APAT this year some great banter and great games so let"s just keep rolling.

SO for 2013...

1 - Stop lurking on blonde and post more. Read the PHA threads, contribute and learn from responses.
2 - Play at least 1 MTT a week live locally.
3 - Use strict BR management to play Omaha cash online. Making sure I am not playing tired/tilted/bored to ensure i cut out mistakes as much as possible
4 - Improve my "mental" side of the game
5 - Make another APAT final table
6 - Attend DTD for a deepstack.

http://jaredtendlerpoker.com/blog/making-new-years-resolutions-stick/  Hope this helps everyone.

Mine are split into regular ongoing goals and then larger goals for the year.  I also set smaller goals for every month/quarter which help me on the steps to achieveing these:

Ongoing Goals

- Two playing sessions per week minimum
- Pokerstove analysis of at least two marked hands from playing sessions and then post on all online forums for hand discussion
- Fortnightly session using The Mental Game of Poker as a workbook and adding to online forum discussions
- Fortnightly session working through online training course content videos and contributing to my skype group
- Monthly blog updates
- Weekly planning for playing and training sessions using online calendar

- To earn enough money to fund a family holiday or car by end of 2013 (specifics to be added)
- To win the $5k GP on my main site - nearly a $1k score
- To win the $3k GP on my main site - approx a $600 score
- To score a second win in the $1k on my secondary site - approx a $300 score
- To win a league title on my main site
- To qualify for and make the cash in the $200k on Sunday nights on my main site
- To qualify for at least two UK tour events in 2013
- To win the £50 Friday night game at Blackpool G Casino

I also add the Whys to each of these Whats to keep me focused.  I have also assessed some of the potential obstacles, how to overcome them, and will now move on to how I will inspire myself to get back up if I am failing.
