The whole point of the card room is to make money. This (I would assume) helps make APAT more attractive to sponsors, helps fund live events and pays for some of the added value we all enjoy playing for. It allows Des and the rest of the team to actually run APAT. So APAT is a business model not something that is just there for our enjoyment. Yes our enjoyment is important as the business model fails without us, it"s customers, but if the business fails to make money (or at least cover its costs) there is no more APAT.
Now let"s be fair, it is no secret that the BOSS software could be improved a lot. It isn"t Pokerstars, but that does not matter. I am not going to go and play a large volume on there tbh but I will play a small amount of cash games each month and the APAT events on there to support APAT, and yes, play with the APAT community. I know that by doing this I am helping in a tiny way to ensure the continuation of APAT and the live events. The fact that there is great added value to win in these things does not hurt either. I think a slightly clunky piece of software is actually a small price to pay for the massive benefits we get. At the end of the day the software is not even that bad, we are only playing a simple card game. Are there really any other options that are any better. The only one is ipoker and personally I would not want to see an APAT card room on that network (Blonde Poker Cardroom anyone?).
The only vote that counts is that of Des, although I am sure he would take the communities views into consideration, he has to have a profitable business to ensure he is giving the members the best possible experience, and most would say go with whatever gives APAT the best deal. Knowing Des he will have already tied this up, the responses in this thread seem to back this up. So I don"t think a vote would not actually achieve anything in this case.
The discussion is a good one though.
