I see where you are coming from; we had a good % turn out regarding the amount of players registered

And as for the captain rallying, he did his best   ;)

A simple well done to all those in the winning teams and all those that topped the individual table and all those that have supported the league this time, would most probably suffice.

I don"t really fancy a "who"s got the biggest team" debate at the moment.   ;)

I can fully understand that we may not have much appetite for regurgitating this debate, but......

After another run at the format, do we feel that team size impacts on the outcome of the league?

I"m not suggesting it shouldn"t be discussed, just would be nice for the winners to have a chance to bask in some glory for a while.   ;D

Fair point, as they should of course.

The number of players obviously has a positive impact on results, but won"t be a guarntee them winning. I"d like to highlight that there"s a higher population in West Yorkshire alone compared to Scotland. There"s a higher number of people in London than in Scotland etc etc. Our captains have done a tremendous job of recruiting players to the team and galvanising those who were already in the previous Glasgow/Edinburgh/Dundee teams.

That can only be praised and I for one would say the best way to address this is for each and every one of us to promote APAT even more. It"s incredible the number of good players in our team, who until about 18 months ago had never heard of APAT, despite playing in numerous tournaments at varous levels around the country. It"s an amazing community which we"ve all gained hugely from, so let"s get telling those at our tables, whether online or playing live. Let"s arrange more get togethers locally with team mates and new players, who in turn will also promote this great community. Let"s use local newspapers, websites, social media, casinos, pubs/clubs to promote promote promote.

Huge congrats to Wayne and Suzy on their runner-up spots, it was a fine competition all the way to the end and your smaller teams definitely done you proud. I"m sure their performance and results will only help to add to your numbers for season 7  8)

Nice post Grant.

I do feel I should clarify and apologise, if my post is in anyway taken as an attempt to taint an excellent performance and win for team Scotland, I assure you any hint of that is as a result of insensitivity on my part rather than a deliberate attempt to undermine your fine efforts on and off the tables.

If this infers that the recruitment route is a level playing field, I totally disagree, that simply isn't accurate and population is not the only factor.

Is it possible to retain the recruitment aspect yet address the anomaly of inequitable team sizes? I think it is and this will benefit all participants. IMHO we should strive for a league format where smaller teams no longer have an excuse and the larger teams get untainted credit for their trojan efforts.

No apology needed Brendan, the beauty of this forum is everyone"s valued opinion will be given consideration by Sir Des of all APAT & his trusty knights.

I said that a bigger team has no guarantee of victory and both leagues this season have had a tight run-in & final week finish, BUT I can fully understand the frustration of players from small teams, particularly if a poor start means a drop off in numbers over the weeks. It will certainly make scoring more difficult as the event progresses.

I"ve no idea if there"s ever going to be a completely level playing field with team members/scoring players ratio for the regional structure.

I do though like the idea of an additional larger version of the "Online Cup" type idea if it could be introduced. For me, this was too rigid for me to play in this season due to the small team size and being in Italy on holiday at the start (with non playing companions  ::) )

No doubt Des, Leigh & Matt will be considering all options for season 7 and the online dilemmas facing all members. Let"s all make sure our voices are heard and our opinions are valid  ;)
