Is this a straightforward check back? Value bet too thin?

Villain is playing 71/10 and doesn"t like folding pre or post flop.

Personally id check behind, i expect if we bet here to be check raised then have no choice but to fold even though we may actually have the best hand, horrible turn card especially with him calling your reraise, cant see him turning up here without an ace.

What a bizarre hand. Villain is a loose-passive idiot (candidate for obvious point of the year 2013). I don"t mind your flop raise if Villain has shown he can occasionally fold to aggression - though your own statement suggests he can"t, therefore flop raise is barely ok (overs + backdoor FD + position + deep stacks = acceptable). Turn raise is crazy - wtf?! Just let it go! Passive fish showing aggression twice should ring the odd alarm bell.

A flop donk min bet is usually pretty weak showdown value. Given he calls it"s reasonably difficult for him to have an Ace, but I suspect he"s done this before so you should have some kind of idea what his donks mean. The turn bet is a little more concerning as it"s not a min bet, but it"s still pretty small.

If you make a v-bet small enough, I don"t expect him to fold hands such as 8x, 55 etc. Something like 10-20% pot would be fine, folding to the CR ofc. Cannot see anyway Villain CR bluffs you here.

How many hands do you have on him? What"s his donk %? Regardless of reads I definitely fold turn but I assume there must be some history that"s made you take that line?

First reaction was "wtf are you doing??"

Then I saw it was 4 max.

I think this is a decent spot to thin v bet the river here and the station will call off with a lot worse given your read. If raised, simple fold.

When you raise his donk on the flop, u are repping such a thin range of over pairs here, so when the A hits turn i would actually just call his bet and try to bluff river. As played i dont think you have done much wrong though, you are repping real strength with the turn raise, i dont expect him to have much, but is he going to be thinking about your hand? check behind river now, dont level yourself into thin value betting.

Villain had  5h 5s. I checked back river.

Hand is spewy on reflection, prob just fold turn rather than trying to make someone fold who isn"t folding much.

As for thin value, probably get shown some random Ax a lot and end up looking silly on the river. As is always with 4 max, the dynamic of the table was "interesting" hence me just deciding to take off here.

Yeah i think he calls flop with alot of Ax + its going to be hard getting him off an 8 on a T/J/9 turn. Its also not really a spot where his range is capped once he calls flop, 70/10 peels nearly every 4x and probably plays them this way.

Against standard low stakes players then if you are bluffing flop I think you have to try again on the turn when the classic scare card comes. Obv I may not take this line vs anyone who can hand read. River is a clear check back
Looking forward to making my first day 2

I think you can get away with barreling these usually, but here he probably has 30+ combos of 4x seen as hes 70/10 pre. Add in 8x/mid pairs and some Ax which will have peeled flop and it looks a bit messy. KQ might actually be good too some of the time vs the gutshots on the board.
