Yes, I apologise that this is another sponsored slim campaign, but with Rich "Curlarge soon to be CurMedium" Baker doing so well I didn"t fancy being the largest player at the APAT Worlds!!
Now to the serious bit, firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to come to my page and read it. Just recently we have found that our youngest son (14 year old) has been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and part of the treatment for it is staying on a 6 week Modulen (like a milk formula) only diet. Being the Good Dad, I have decided to join him on a liquid only weight plan management programme. Oh no I hear you all cry, here's another sponsored diet!! But this is the first time I have done a public appeal as I would like to raise some money for the Children's Ward at The Royal Free Hospital in London.
The Ward 6 staff have been fantastic and helpful while Connor has had recent stays in there, and when the Playroom staff came round and asked if we wanted to spend time together playing a game (as this apparently promotes a quicker recovery within the child if they spend time with their parents/carers) I noticed that the monopoly game was the same version near enough that I played on as a kid (I am now 46!!). It also had bits missing and no rules, but thanks to google and the internet I managed to find how much cash we needed to start the game.
When we got home I had one of those eureka moments and decided that I would try to raise some money and help purchase some new games (unfortunately old games left lying in the back of the cupboard are not accepted due to their strict infection controls). On leaving hospital last Thursday (21 Feb 13) I was provided with an A4 list of Games that Natalie and Abi had drawn up for use on the ward. So my initial target is to raise £500 to provide them with the games on their wishlist!! Any other funds could go towards either an Xbox or PS3 as they are mainly using PS2 platforms.
So if you can find the time to donate it's all going to a good cause.
Now the hard bit for me!! While you are generously donating, I am following the Cambridge Weight Plan for the same time to give support to my son. I started back on 28 Jan 13, the weekend after the UK Team champs in Luton (when I struggled to get into the back seat of my car when a best mate, who shall remain nameless, on 2nd thoughts he would name me!! AJ Cairns!! shotgunned (yes we are supposed to be grown ups) the passenger seat after my wife said she would drive us to Luton, thankfully for my benefit it"s only a 30 min journey!!
My planned targets will appear below as my Consultant is away on a 3 week holiday to South Africa!! Haven"t been weighed since beginning of Feb. So hopefully when i see her next week I will have some good news.
So please come along and support me in this worthy cause, thanks in advance!!
