Well everyone, what a superb weekend. Was excellent meeting loads of interesting people and had a great laugh into the bargain.
Not so much a game of poker, more a trip to Alton Towers. 6 shots on Oblivion, 3 goes of Air and 5 spins on Nemesis later and it was all over. Saturday started like "oops gonna be one of those days" when I got a flush about 3 hands in and lost to quad 8"s. Thankfully didn"t squander too many chips on that but not long after was down to 5.5k. I felt bad for a while, but not as bad as Scouse at Cool Hand Lukes when his opponent picked up suited Aces
. Sat tight for a while after but after sussing out the table made a couple of moves raising in cut-off/button with garbage cards - 8/2 hit 8/4/2 flop and won a nice size pot, then 6/7 hit 8/8/7/7 on turn and again won a nice size pot again.
Went up to about 26k after then getting some good starting cards (see below) but donked off half to Declan when we both hit an Ace flop and he had my kicker beaten on an all-in push (cheers again for the great advice later Declan, much appreciated).
Moved upstairs after that and poor Pete from Leicester landed between me and Billyho. I quickly got back over the 25k mark when my QQ doubled up against someone"s 99. Then after passing half his chips to Billy, Pete raised my BB of 1k to 5k. I put him all in for his remaining 6.5k with my AQ suited (which I picked up through the day about 7 times, along with AK numerous times as well) and my hand held up.
Forth Thistle (Davie B) had me chanting "happy dayyyyyyyyyys" under my breath for a while after this, but disaster struck when we got down to 30 players.......sitting with about 50+k Our table got split.
I got placed in the position from hell at the table from hell. Mark Redshaw had more chips than burger king and was using them with very good affect. I couldn"t get even remotely interested in the game because of his and David Smiths" raises. I was getting hand after hand of complete Paul Ince, tried a raise at 1.5/3k blinds with pocket 5"s only to be put all in by Mark so threw them away. With blinds at 2/4k and more Barry White cards than you could shake a stick at, I decided to push my last 38k on another David Smith raise on my BB with A/7. He called with pocket 8"s, hit trips on the flop and I was well & truly out of that cheap hotel!
I"ll definitely be coming back to a theatre near you very soon..........All the best everyone until then and cheers for a brilliant time.....................and particular thanks to the boys who made it possible. Billy, Neil, Davie B, Graham, Derek, Ross, Davie and all the APAT team.
