WSOP Fantasy League
« on: May 25, 2013, 17:12:05 PM »
So after discussion with Carl we have come up with the following:

Each Person must pick a squad of 8 players, these consist of four pics dependant on qualification for a certain category and four wild cards, the categories are:

  • A previous ME winner

  • One British Player

  • One European Player

  • One Female Player

When listing your team please state whether the player fits into a category or is a wile card.

Players will score 5 points if they cash in a tournament, 12 if they make the final table (or semi finals in heads up tournaments)15 points if they finish second and 25 points for the Win

The player that finishes highest on the the player of the year leaderboard from all the players selected prior to the Main Event will score 50 bonus points for their team/teams.

The first event that scores points will be event 2 and will run up until the end including all events except the main event

We will have a weeks late registration however their team will only be able to score points from the date they register

I will track the scores on a spreadsheet and i am hoping that Carl or someone else will volunteer to hold on to the prize money.

Speaking of which, we were thinking of 5 pounds per person and also an optional 5 pounds for the Main Event itself where the winner will be that that accumulates the most winnings throughtout the main event,

Please express an interest on this thread and good luck  :)

P.s Carl if i have missed anything or you think we should change something please comment sooooooooon :)

This competition will start on the 29th May (this wednesday with late reg closing the following wednesday 5th June) and will finish after the completion of event 61 which should be on Sunday 7th July

Entered to both:

In for this, thanks for arranging Chris/Carl.

Previous winner... Jonathan Duhamel
British player... Jake Cody
European Player... Bertrand Grospellier
Female Player.. Vanessa Selbst
Wild card 1.. Phil Ivey
Wild card 2... Jason Mercier
Wild card 3.. Erik Seidel
Wild card 4.. Eugene Katchalov

I assume its winner takes all dependent on runners? In for main comp and main event. Any chance of Stars transfer? Will bank transfer if not.

Would be cool if someone within APAT could drum up interest on social media.

Hi Mark.. I would like to keep the prize pool separate from my poker account.. It"s a lot easier to track for me as I will hold the money in a redundant account I have so it doesn"t get messy..

Hope your ok with that.. Best of luck..

Just shared a thread on FB I tagged over 80 APAT players on it twice!! Each time it crashed lol so I gave up and just posted as a status.. Please share and tag is you can..

Hi Guys

Thanks for doing this, should be fun.

You asked for feedback on anything that anyone might prefer to be done differently, so might I suggested the following:-

Having a weeks late entry seems to allow anyone to be able wait until next Wednesday and then pick their players from those that have already scored. With 6-8 cashes being considered to have been very successful over the whole WSOP, this seems to allow new comers an huge advantage.

Also, and sorry to harp on, the points structure seems slightly unbalanced in that 5 points for cashing and then only 10 for a FT and 15 for winning a tourney should surely be weighted much heavier in favour of the latter.

Perhaps 5 for cashing, and then use the F1 scoring system, (which worked so well in the Bakers Dozen tourney) after that, i.e. 10th gets an additional point, 9th an extra 2, etc..... up to the winner getting 25 extra. That way it rewards the high finishers. POY could get a 50 bonus on top as well.

As I say, sorry to harp on, but it just seems a little lopsided to me.

Hi Rich,

No worries about the scoring being tweaked I will go with the majority.. I think prehaps stick to 5 points for a cash, then say 12 points for FT then 25 for out right win?.. POS gets 50 bonus is fine I suppose gives an outsider to come from no where to TID..

I"m a little confused as to why you think late reg will be of an advantage?? It is stated in OP that they don"t score points until the team is selected.. For example if someone decides to join a week in and they pick Phil Ivey who has scored points, his points are not added to the selected team he starts from 0.. In fact late reg may be a disadvantage? Unless people are waiting to see what sort of volume a player is going to put into the series?..

I"ll prob have a go at this, but need to rethink. I had Joe Carr-Hill in as my British player, but the penny has just dropped that the others will be playing loads of events and he won"t so, reluctantly, gotta scratch him. I still fancy him to do well in the ME though. That"s one-third of my players gone, so still got a way to go.

Vanessa Selbst is a good player and all, but is he eligible for the female category?

And how much is it? OP doesn"t say.
