At the home nations a bunch of us, including Des and Mark the Shark, banded some ideas around about a possible competition that could run along the WCOAP. This has been touched on the other thread also, but id like to see the APAT massives input.
An optional team element could be added to the festival in which groups of friends, poker clubs etc could enter vs one another over the festival.
How it would work:
Teams would be consisting of a minimum of 4, maximum 8 players.
For each event in the festival would must submit your players that are eligable to score points for you. This would be 3 per mixed format (Stud, PLO, Razz, Horse and Cash) and 4 in the NLH (6 max and Main)
Each one of your players must be "put forward" at least once.
Players would score points on finishing position (TBC)
Winning Team would be the one with the most points.
I have seen formats like the above ran over single events, ie the Goliath, and i think it would be a brilliant way to try and grow the WCOAP festival.
DTD hold the pub poker finals every year, with a decent amount of teams, and it only takes one player from each of those teams to like the idea, and they will convince their mates to join in with them.
Lots of players also travel for one/two of the events, and this would give them reason to play more than one event as well as get a group of mates to get involved.
Not a great mixed game specialist? Ok, but what a better reason to flick it in and have a go.
Also gives all of these small little poker groups created within APAT a change to battle. Your BCPCs, your LPPLs, your Team Gothams et al.
These WCOAP sides can struggle with numbers sometimes, especially when a lot of the "International" players are in the Team Event (John Murray"s, Steve Redferns etc) but giving new faces to APAT a reason to get stuck in may (and i say MAY) help build the sides and festival as a whole.
Ive always said, with APAT, once your involved you can see why its loved so much. Sometimes getting the people in the door is the hard part. I know, as i have made the transistion through.
Only banding ideas about here, but what does everyone think?
Good idea to get new faces in for the whole festival?
Pants idea?
