Completely agree with all who said chips should remain in play. Once his money has been paid his chips stay on the table. It"s a disservice to the Swiss team, but also we have a precedent from the day before and on top of that, what"s to stop another player turning up and not bothering to play?
Just because he"s not in the building doesn"t stop his chips from playing.
Agree with this also, but no point in our derailing the live update thread on the topic.
I"d like to think his chips will go into play in the later phases with the exception of any heads up events, where it would be completely unreasonable on his opponent.
I would also add that due to the lack of intervention from the Swiss captain prior to that phase starting, the decision to award the team no points for the absent player should stand without question.
I"m sorry, but that just doesn"t sit right with me. Just because the Swiss captain didn"t know enough to speak up (or felt unable) doesn"t mean it shouldn"t be pointed out. Basically telling us to shut up and leave it doesn"t make it go away, but I"m happy to hear it will be made right for the rest of the series.
I agree with your view completely Dawn, but in doing so don"t believe there"s any remedy for what happened. The decision can"t be changed now and it shouldn"t bring the tournament into disrepute.
I guess what I"m saying is there isn"t a point in derailing the live update with everyone weighing in with the same opinion, because the precedent was indeed set yesterday, and I"d say we were all in agreement.
I"m not in Prague, but have discussed briefly with Tom and the player"s chips will be in play going forward.
