In addition we"ll have seat reservation.  To stop people speed reserving everything in sight, there will be a charge on all events.  £5 for the main event and £2 for each side event.

I think this was pretty much what I was hoping to see. Thanks Des.

Pretty much what I was hoping not to see.

Agree completely.  I think a direct buy in with full payment up front should be made available for all events before reservations. Surely selling out an event with money up front is more desirable

^^^^^ +1^^^^^ surely have direct upfront payment available for say 14 days then go down the reservations route for those still undecided, there are lots of hardcore members who have fully committed 100% to the series..

What I meant was I was happy to see that if need be I just had to find £25 spare rather than £600

We"re still in Season Seven right? Below is from the APAT Season Seven Announcement thread:

Will that mean to reserve a seat in this one you"ll have to pay £50 + £5 +£5?

If you"ve reserved the main, or already qualified, you wouldn"t have to pay any side event reservation fees.

Having only 1 reservation for the whole of the WCOAP made sense - but I thought it was worth checking/clarifying as it"s in 3 distinct groups.

To be clear, if a players is committed to being at the venue, then they would only have to pay one reservation fee.  So consider it one reservation fee per venue Jon.  That avoids the previous issues.

And this is from earlier in this thread:

In addition we"ll have seat reservation.  To stop people speed reserving everything in sight, there will be a charge on all events.  £5 for the main event and £2 for each side event.

So "to be clear" means "I might change my mind" ;)

Have you ever actually said something that wasn"t critical Andrew?  We just seem to be constantly inconveniencing you, which might be fair enough if we were PokerStars or Sky, but we"re not, we"re just a bunch of recreational poker players that dedicate a lot of our non working time in an attempt to pull together something pretty special on your behalf.  Apologies that we constantly fail you.

Although out of character, not your finest post Des :(

If one assumes that I"m allowed the occasional bark, as is everyone"s right within APAT, then I"m not unhappy with the post Brendan...and I"m sure I"ve done worse. :)

I feel the economy is a bit worrying, the jobs situation also....but I don"t believe APAT adding an event to a festival late in the day, or changing our position on side event reservation should be described as worrying.

Now that"s just my opinion and we listen to everyone"s opinion - which frequently differ as seen even in the last few posts.

So I guess what I"m saying is I / we are entitled to show a bit of frustration also.

Sorry Des but you can"t have it both ways. The "we"re just a bunch of recreational poker players that dedicate a lot of our non working time " line doesn"t cut it anymore.

APAT is a business of which you are a Director (according to Companies House). APAT is a Business that charges customers (us recreational players) fees.

As a paying customer I am very disappointed that you spoke to another customer is such a manner. As a customer with choice, I will not being playing the event.

Ditto this.

Those prepared to pay full whack, thereby taking a financial risk and making a commitment to APAT several months in advance shouldn"t be penalised with an additional reservation fee (in my humble opinion)

Stuart - we"re a business borne from people on both sides (management & customers) having a passion for recreational poker.

The management team are in amongst our customers and know most of them on a first name basis.  We also listen intently and have a solid record of making player focused decisions based on feedback.  But feedback is a two way thing and I feel I am entitled to be part of that discussion and in a human way, not like some corporate dummy.  You and I have known each other for years and spoken many many times at events, so you know we aren"t just another corporate entity.

Remember also please, APAT is not my day job and the amount of decision making that we take based on business priority is negligible in comparison with anyone else in this industry.  APAT simply makes very little money from it"s members and that"s fine - but it can sometimes determine our resource and priorities.

We"ve created APAT's biggest and best ever festival with the WCOAP and in doing so I know that the administration of seats etc will be an absolute nightmare - so forgive me for being frustrated when the best automated solution that we have is questioned, alongside a couple of amends to the schedule suggested by members in the past two weeks, and the addition of one more event.

Of course you"re entitled to not attend if you don"t agree with the way I run APAT but I hope you don"t take that stance.  It doesn"t gain anything and frankly the  Ac Jh stories keep us going for months.  :)

But joking aside, if you"re doing so because I"ve stated my opinion to Andrew, then I"d have to say that I think I"ve earned the right to engage with "people" I know very well in both a positive and negative way.  Without that APAT becomes no more than a job to me and I"m lucky enough to have one of those already.

Agree with this and as I mentioned a bit earlier, we"re certainly going to have direct buy in options available online.  The only concern we have at the moment is that this element hasn"t been finalised yet by Matt - so we"ll take stock over the weekend and let you know the approach on Monday.  One thing I would say is that we want to be as fair about this as we can and are conscious of cutting any additional costs to a minimum, so let"s see where we are on Monday.  We"ll try and keep the surprises to a minimum.

That"s excellent news. If the direct buy-in option is not ready on Monday, could you hold off on the reservations until it is?

Brilliant news and probably the only fair option.
ps Des I think you do have a right to vent your frustrations however due to your position/status within the company I feel it should not be done on a public forum with your customers all looking on

So, as I understand it...

All players will post the required ante each level of play.

No SB or BB

Pre-flop: Action will start with the player to the left of the dealer button. Players will act in turn having the option to fold or bring in for the minimum amount posted for each level or bet up to All-In. The remaining players in the hand will have the option to fold, call, or raise.

Post-flop: Action will start with the player to the left of the dealer button. Players will act in turn having the option to check, or bet the minimum bring-in up to and including all-in. The remaining players in the hand will have the option to fold, call, or raise.

....Interesting.
