Won a quality game of pub poker last night for £30 first prize. This was littered with some outrageous suckouts delivered by me and some dubious moves that I was less then proud of.

This game was particularly memorable because I managed to crack aces a grand total of 3 times.

Hand one was early doors I had  :as: qs in LP and raised 4xBB the SB min reraised me so I autocalled, despite fearing the worst. the flop came  ts js giving me a the royal flush draw. A raising war then ensued and whilst I pretty much guessed that the aces and queeens weren"t outs, I was never folding the chance to hit my first live royale (with cheese). turn card was a king and i doubled up and well set for the rest of the night.

Hand 2, folded to me in the SB with K4o. I have 45K, blinds are 2K/4K, BB has 2.5K behind so in Eric Lingdren style I say "put em in then" . He obliges and flips the Airlines. K on flop.....river 4....shiiiip it.

Hand 3. We are three handed. My stack 70K, blinds 3K/6K. button (60K) min raises to 12K. the last time he did this I shoved light and he folded. This time I pick up KTs and thinking that he might be hoping for a similar move I decide to call and check in the dark. flop is a dream  tc td :: button checks behind. cant remember the turn but I bet 20K, button goes allin and I"m right there with him. He has the bullets and I have entered the matrix!!



final hand. I get 92o in the BB, SB completes and I check. flop comes 9Q3. the money then goes in after I lead get set in and call with my middle pair no kicker. He has a slow played pre pair of tens and I need a miracle which comes on the river in the shape of a lovely 9!!!!!

Friday at WCOAP FTW!!

I"ll be making as long a weekend of this as is possible. Playing on the friday is win win for me. Can have a chilled saturday and play the DTD saturday night comp. Alternatively, if city are at home on that saturday then I can nip back for that too.

I just hope I can click in for the other events too (and hopefully get to give my HORSE ticket away)

There have been a few comments regarding the extremely early sale of these seats. Whilst I can understand the financial problem of having to shell out up to £200 for something that is 5 months away, I think the reasoning given by Des makes sense.

At the end of the day, this is a one off and all the other events are sold about a month in advance, so if members have a real problem with this there are still plenty of other options for the rest of the season.

Really looking forward to this...it will be epic!!

bought in for the Omaha, but not too sure if I"m in seeing as I didn"t buy in untill 11pm.

But hope to land a big gamble by already sorting my flights and hotels for HSV v MCFC on 9th April.

I say gambled because

1. I"m not guaranteed a ticket for the game
2. The date and KO is not confirmed yet (Des for UEFA president)

I just didn"t want to get totally ripped off by all the travel companies/hotels who seem to have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to european footy fixtures.

If it does go belly up, then I will still have a nice time in Hamburg with the wife (who is fluent in German)

I have also decided to abandon doing short term challenges. success at poker is generally not a short term thing and success or failure in these challenges can mostly be down to good or bad luck.

I know I said that short term challenges were for losers. So being a loser, I"ve embarked on another.

WSOP steps on UB. If you can go from step 1 to step 10 and be one of the first 10 to do it then they throw in an aruba classic package as well. So far no-one has done this but i know a few people who are going for it.

I"ve deposited $100 but for the purposes of this challenge will only use $50. I intend to buy a load of step 1s, win as many step as possible and then see how those go.

I am doing this challenge for a few reasons

1. A few others on another forum are doing it.
2. Its a chance to try multitabling on the cheap at the lower steps (3 is my effective limit at the mo). I"ll be 10 tabling the first 3 levels.

I fully expect to fail because

1. How the hell am I going to win a step 10 STT with a $2350 buy in
2. How the hell am I going to win a step 9 STT with a $ 800 buy in
3. How the hell am I going to win a......(you get the idea)
and
4. How the hell am I going to find the time to play all these STTs in time for the WSOP??

So far my roll is $45.43 in cash and I have the following tickets

so some calculations

1. 10 games in half an hour. 405 step 1"s to go (+retrys) that"s 20 hours needed.
2. at this win rate, I"ll get about 140 step 2"s...thats another 7 hours
3. If I can keep the same win rate that will be 45 step , 15 step 4"s, 5 step 5"s and 1 (or 2) step 6"s and not getting past step 7

4. step 3"s + will take longer to play so I"m looking at 40 plus hours of poker just to FAIL!!!
5. I should really give up now (but I wont...yet!!)

Well march was a losing month. I managed to turn my form around playing 3 table SNGs but lost in all other disciplines.

Am going to keep recording results as usual, but not try and focus on the monthly bottom line.

the UB WSOP steps challenge is fun so far, but boy am I pants at multi tabling.

A great day on the horses. This is looking like being a great Aintree Festival for me. My ROI today was 235% with 3 winners and a place from 7 races. winners were (16/1, 8/1 and 11/1). It is great to be playing with the bookies money for the rest of the festival.

The disappointing thing is that I cant combine a good Aintree with a good return in the big race. Last year Comply or Die saved me from a disasterous festival, whereas a great festival the year before was ruined by silver birch in the big one, and the year before that numbersixvalverde saved me from a disasterous festival....(you are getting the picture now!!). My pick for the big one is Parsons Legacy, so back it or sack it as you see fit.


As I"m on a decent run, I"m now going to try multitabling a load of step 1 STTs on UB.
