£20 rebuy "deep" stack tonight at the G and it is dealer dealt.

100BB starting stacks too so no need to go allin every hand - Ger style!!

I know a lot of people hate rebuys, but I actually like them. As long as you budget properly for them, it is possible to get quite a decent deep stack tourney going after the rebuy period is done.

I felt compelled to oppose the deal being suggested. Especially when players have merely folded their way to the FT,

+1. Why give away part of what you have earned to people who arrive at the FT with no chips, especially if you believe you have an edge over the table irrespective of chips?

thanks Dave, Mike and Paul (see I am worth 10%...LOL).

I am going to attempt the hat-trick tonight after my original plans were scuppered.

My original plans were to sit at home, play a few STTs and then Drive to Burnley to bring the wife home from her school trip.

Volcanic ash FTW!!!

But seriously, its an absolute nightmare for her. Flybe refused to even entertain her at Frankfurt airport, telling her that she would have to ring the group bookings department. She eventually got through and was told that if she was lucky, they may be able to get on the last flight on MONDAY!!! She has decided to snap that weak looking bluff off and raked in the refund which will go towards a train to Rotterdam, ferry to Hull and Burnley coach company picking them up there for free (one of the kids parents owns the company). She should be back on saturday??

But there is a silver lining to this very sad story..............

I get to play at the G again and go for a hat-trick of live wins

Tonight we have a £30 (+1 rebuy and 1 addon) with a 5K starting stack and pretty sure we start at 25/50 this time. Not sure if its dealer or self dealt but I"m going anyway.

Wish me luck...I"ll need it!!

No hat trick (surprise!). An enjoyable tourney, that was dealer dealt and reasonably well run (re: balancing tables / updating the screen). I found myself sat next to "manchestercarl", a fellow team manc player.

The standard raise at the 25/50 level seemed to be 350 or higher and it was with very marginal hands. One guy open raised to 500 and then folded when he was min reraised pre flop. I tried to stay out of the way but found myself calling OTB with SCs and hit a couple of flops to take down a couple of pots. I then lost my first stack when I CRAI with a NFD that missed v top pair. Not the greatest move from me, but I felt like a a gamble. I took the addon and then rocked up looking for decent spots that never really came...

I was having a good time chatting to Carl about poker and MCFC, but that didn"t stop him busting me when I was short and shoved my 11BB stack in with A6s and he woke up in the BB with AK which held up.

Fancied a bit of cash afterwards but couldn"t be bothered waiting for a spare seat so came home. Won £40 playing Blackjack in the break so only a small loss on the night.

Hi Rob

Good to meet you last night, and apologies if I put you off your game with my constant yapping.  Wierd comp last night, and plenty of opportunity to stack-up against weaker players, especially early on... thought you played a good game all round, and got pretty unlucky on a couple of occassions... expecially your exit hand  ;D.

You"ll be pleased to hear I put your stack to good use, and breezed into the final table, picking my spots well, and bullying a few weaker players at key moments, never once having to put more that 50% of my stack at risk.  17 handed I rocketed up to 150,000 chips (Of 620,000 in play), after the button tried to slow play poket kings, I flatted from the small with 78 suited and big blind  (as he"d been doing all evening) let me see a free flop... a dream 7, 8, 3 (2 hearts)... I checked, big blind pushed his flush draw, bb pushed his KK over the top, I called for just over 1/2 my stack and held.  Things almost got even rosier 11 handed, still with a 150k stack I woke up with AK on the bb after the sb had pushed for 40K with A2... a 2 on the turn, put me down to  100k and the bubble burst very next hand, giving me a slight chip lead on the final table.

As is always the case, final table was pretty much a game of bingo with blinds at 5k- 10k anda 1k ante whilst still 10 handed!  Eventually agreed to a deal based on chip stacks 4 handed with me taking £700.... usually refuse deals, but with the GUKPT next week, the money means I"ve in efffect free-rolled into 4 of the side events.

Hope I continue to run good in tonights 50 rebuy sat to the GUKPT main... with 10 seats gaurenteed and no flights arriving in manchester any time soon, I think there will be mega value in this!

Hope to see you at the table soon

Carl

wow top result Carl.

Team manchester take down 3 events in 4 days at the G.

and just to prove how great (sic) I am, It takes the eventual winner to stop me getting a hat-trick.

Dont worry about your yapping putting me off. I dont think I was concentrating very well anyway. I only had pocket 8s when I announced "raise" in that hand and hadn"t realised there had been a raise before me. I was glad when he folded to my improvised shove ;D

good old betfair.

They rang me up the other day to ask "how things were"

"Well, I"m a bit tired. I"ve had a really long day at work and I"m a bit hungry"

Instead of glazing over, he then asked me what I was having for dinner

"The wife"s not home yet, but you can ring back later and find out if you want"

Eventually he moved on to my betting preferences, asking what I bet on.

"well I like jump racing and maybe the odd football bet" (I was begging him to give me a chance to talk about the poker software - but he didn"t)

He even asked me who I supported

"Man City.......well if they win their next 3 games they"ll do it......yes I hate spurs too.....but at least we have the Faroe Island Reserve keeper in net......"

Eventually he got onto the actual point of the conversation, which was about football multiples on betfair. He was offering me a free £10 bet on any football multiple.

"oh thanks, but can I have a free bet on city finishing fourth.....no.....ok, stick it on liverpool and fulham to both win tomorrow"

After being told I had to do it myself (obviously so I"d do it again) we said our goodbyes

So, armed with a tenner stuck it on Liverpool and Fulham to win, which they both duly did, netting me a nice £23 profit.

To make things better, Liverpool ended going out as well...(at least they can still finish 4th  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D)

Thanks betfair!!!

I got this phone call too, week before Gold cup, asked me whether Denman or Kauto Star would win. I replied neither, Imperial commander will win.

Didn"t get a free bet though.

I run so bad!

Am now in bristol waiting to check into my room before heading down for leg 1 of the CBMPT. A lack of availability for apat action has prompted this drastic move. I"m necking a cider as i text to get into the spirit. Lets see if i can make a dinner break.
