I did have Steve Redfern to my right which was great because I knew he"d spew his chips in my direction by the end of the second level (My reads were solid ;D ;D).

HMMMMMMM  Don"t remember too much spewage in that direction :)

[ x ] i wasn"t being serious!!

I was just happy to have position on you. You were the player who I kept getting big hands against and no chips from!!

But very well played Steve, I am absolutely delighted for your win. Its good that a regular contributor to this forum has taken down a big event. Good luck in the champion of champions event

Rob,

I thought table 5 was a great table, good banter (even though i"mfairly quiet) and good poker and made day one very enjoyable. I thought Steve played a great game and it set him up well for the rest of the tournament.

I was two to your left by the way.

Had you on ace rag, and a doubt in my mind that you had hit the second pair, thought you might raise over me.

ditto - didn"t realise that you was you Chris.  Perhaps at the next APAT game, it should be mandatory for everyone to wear an id badge showing their forum id!!  ;D

Had a great time at the UK champs that is basically split into 5 parts
1) the main event
2) the side event
3) the cash table
4) the sit and go
5) other stuff!!

I"d sat watching this game with Leigh telling him that I"d never sit down at such a crazy game. However the combination of Leigh wandering off and a few too many pints on my part had me sitting down with 100BBs

My game was uneventful, winning a decent omaha pot with a flopped flush (not the nuts) but i still finished slightly down after a few hours.

The real reason for posting this was to put my spin on the famous 5 card omaha hand, involving a player that I shall refer to as Arnie because he was the...

I paid £5 an hour for this entertainment and had paid £5 for the 6 hands played in the previous hour; the lack of hands mainly down to Arnie"s boorish drunken behaviour. This drunkeness probably contributed to Arnie getting his own story mixed up, in pretty much the same manner as pupils give when they dont do their homework ("i did it but left it at home", "so why have you got your book then?", "errr, I did it on a piece of paper", "orly?")

his excuses were
1. the fifth card was someone elses that the dealer hadn"t collected
2. the K had stuck to the 7
3. the K had stuck to the J

and he"d have got away with it, if it wasn"t for that pesky dealer and Rio

Rio, to be fair offered to chop the pot, but Arnie wasn"t having it and wanted the lot. It was at this time that a waitress came over and asked if I wanted another drink. The whole incident had sobered me up and I had lost the will to drink so settled for my first coke of the night.

Arnie, meanwhile had called Tikay over (WTF??) and when Tikay told him his hand was dead and the pot was Rio"s, he took off with a big chunk of the pot tucked under his arm.

This was the worst robbery attempt since this

A mixture of speechlessness and outrage followed from the table. I dont know what became of Arnie but I dont think "HE"LL BE BACK"

Had a great time at the UK champs that is basically split into 5 parts
1) the main event
2) the side event
3) the cash table
4) the sit and go
5) other stuff!!

I walked back to my hotel with Luky, Zanshin, Chippa and Kin with the intention of playing a cash game. Kin had just cashed in the side event and had proved that alcohol and poker do mix, by being completely smashed and great company to boot. Couldn"t really tell how drunk everyone else was, but it was from "sober" to "not as drunk as Kin", who claimed he had had 40 pints of guiness but acknowledged that as he was drunk, his judgement was impaired so decided it was probably more likely 30!! ???

We abandoned the cash game idea and setttled on a sit and go. 2000 chips each, first blind 25/50, clock......errrrrr????

Kin got off to a superb start bullying the table relentlessy, though to be fair he did get dealt suited connectors nearly every hand and hit every flop. Well that is what he told us and who were we to not believe him. Chippa, meanwhile felt that the game needed speeding up so offered to deal for all of us. He of course shipped his stack to Kin first before doing this for us and we were all grateful

Meanwhile Kin was opening up his range and open limped one pot only to shove when Luky raised it up OTB. Luky dwelt for a while before folding. Kin showed  7h :3h:

;D ;D ;D Much LOLZ

Then came the moment of controversy..

Folded round to Luky OTB who raised but was called for string betting by Kin. The rest of the table agreed that telling everyone you had suited connectors every hand was totally acceptable, but accidently dropping your chips when putting them over the line was just plain out of order. It was ruled and agreed that a min raise should stand here. This gave Kin the odds to call and Zanshin in the BB folded

Kin checked the  7d 7s :3s: flop in the dark and Luky bet 125 (half the pot)
Kin min raised, Luky shoved and Kin did a Hellmuth style patent call.

Luky had 66 but was drawing virtually dead when Kin flipped  7h :3h:

Luky went soon after. I had been quiet for most of this, my time being occupied by a huge sausage roll, but once I finished that I started to get a bit busy. Zanshin and I were waiting for Kin to blow up which he did but he just got lucky and soon it was I and he HU.

At HU we discussed a chop. Even though I had more chips, Kin wanted 60% over 40% as he felt he had an edge HU. This edge was demonstrated when he folded 3 hands in a row, once in the SB and twice in the BB; both times before I even had the chance to make up in the SB. With a massive CL, I offered a 40% split and allin blind for the other 20%. Kin agreed and I took the other 20% with the first hand.

I thought this game proved to be great preparation for Luky and Zanshin who had made day 2 of the main event. I"m sure they thought so too as they turned in for bed at 5am!

1. Excessive drinking, poor behaviour, etc. has been done to death and I dont have anything to add anymore. Des has dealt with it, and whether I agree with Des or not on the individual punishments is irrelevant. Des has rarely (if ever) got it wrong when it comes to key decisions involving APAT and there is no reason to question him now

2. City beat Boro 1-0 to set up a great APAT weekend. SOOper Craig Bellamy

3. Gutted, I cant make Cardiff (booo!!) Will be going to dublin though (weeeeee!!)

4. Great to meet up with a load of familiar faces and to put some more faces to names

5.Structure. Whilst I think that the present structure is great and shouldn"t be changed, I will fully understand if APAT decide to change it by putting the clock back to 40 mins or removing levels. A 2am+ finish is fine for the players who are happy to be there, but its not on for the volunteers who give up enough of their free time and have to work the following day. This leads us to....

lastly....

6. Many thanks to Des, Rich and Tony for all their hard work and providing such a great event. It is much appreciated

Just remembered a priceless moment from this game. It was the very first hand and Neil was dealing. I was in the cut off and had :2s: 8s which was folded.

3 people saw the flop which was

x x  :2s:    ??? ???

"I mucked that" said I pointing to the  :2s: and sure enough on further inspection the burn card was the  8s

So serious LOLz at Neil for putting the mucked cards at the top of the deck.....

bless him
