LOL! I forgot about that! It was 5am and I had had two long days before that. That"s my excuse and I"m sticking to it ;D

The flop was actually 332 and a 5 on the turn. I had 53o. The buggers called a mis-deal and made me muck my house. The cheek!

That was a quality SNG.  Great write up as well - I remembered most of it...honest.

Half term is nearly upon me. I am sat in my room contemplating my last lesson of the half term.

I"ll be disappearing off the poker grid for most of the week as I am going skiing in Les Alpes. I cant wait as I"ve not been for 8 years. A load of us are going by the snow train so there may be scope for a bit of a game. The others are not really poker players so could have difficulty setting this up.

Good luck to the manchester players on sunday

good luck to everyone in the satties and clickfest next week. I look forward to reading the conspiracy theory threads when I get back ;)

After 2 months of profit, I"ve decided to have a go at full ring cash. I know 6-max is the way forward with cash but I"m playing full ring as that is what I"m more used to. It has mainly been a bit of a grind but I have been generaly winning and eeking out a small profit here.

Now I know set over set are rare occurences and I have been sitting down for a good few months now wondering when I was going to fall foul of this. The last few times I can remember I was the beneficiary in a few tourneys. So cue these three hands.
Hand 1 was cruel and it was the very first hand of the session!!!
Hand 2 - Some may think I overplay my JJ here, but its a hit and runner and I"ll get it in with all sorts to felt these parasites!!

and that contributed to me donkking a buyin in...

Hand 3 - I think I played this badly - I"m not beating much. (thoughts on this one please!!)

So 2 buyins done in 30 mins. Dont think i can win 1 buyin in that time so I quit pretty soon after hand 3 because I felt I was in danger of playing even worse.

Now the poker juices are flowing!!

Des has announced the revised plans for the WCOAP and the long weekend is booked and sorted with management.
I have to say that having the HORSE on a sunday at the same time as the ME is a master stroke on Des's part (though maybe not intentional ;))

I remember (amazingly!) having a conversation with Des at last years WCOAP and suggested having side events running on the second day. There were logistic issues with cost and availability of dealers that have probably prevented this this season. However, whatever the reasons for running the HORSE alongside the main event, the sunday will prove to be a classic day in APATs history.

I also noted the later than normal start times. I may have to reacquaint myself with "Red Bull" if I"m to go deep here.

Manchester went joint second of the central division last night. Well done to john Steele and Steve Coope for getting us the win.

It was a strange tourney for me. I had my best finish (24th) but was virtually card dead for the whole tourney. I was very quiet in the early stages and later on tried a whole load of moves with..ahem..speculative hands that helped me survive. I"m a pretty straightforward player and am not fully confident with these moves and maybe should have tried a few more, but when card dead, needs must. I managed to near bust the UK champ with  4s 6s v his  :as: ks when i spiked a 4. I tried to repeat the move a few orbits later with 47o but this time a K sealed my fate.

Had a good run in the satellite tonight. Was very pleased we used the same structure as the night before and whilst it is a late finish for a satellite, I feel it is the sort of structure that needs to be in place for APAT tourneys. I was running top tennish for most of the night but went out amazingly in 24th....again. A bit of a cooler (my KK v AA v AK) which, given it was a satellite, i maybe could have got away from but I"m not folding KK at this stage of the tourney. Maybe closer to the bubble, but not this far from the prize.

This tournament was also unique in that I finally managed to win a big pot v john murray (mintrav). Seriously...this guy pwns me live, online...anywhere!! Needless to say, it involved a huge stroke of luck on my part but I"ll take it!

After a poor start to the month I"ve managed to get March into the black. This has been due to an amazing run on BSQ. I have been playing $11 3 table SNGs and turned a -30% ROI from January and February into + 20% for the year in the space of 1 weekend. Variance is great!!!

If anyone has ever played these tourneys then they know that they have a pretty poor structure (9 min blinds, 1500 chips) and you are in push/fold mode after about 40 mins. However, the standard of play is generally poor particularly at the push/fold stage of the game. With first paying $120 and second $75 they represent a great chance to boost your ROI and I think the hourly rate is better than $22 STTs.

I suffered some terrible luck in Jan and Feb with these and went on a 17 game cashless run that nearly had me giving up on them, especially when I started to play bad as well. Took a break from them and then this weekend cleared up. 2 wins, 1 seconds and a 2 thirds from 9 games (I think) and I am now back in love with BSQ!!

Loved the cheltenham festival last week. When I retire, I will be going there every year. One of the disadvantages of being a teacher is that we cant pick and choose when we take our 13 weeks holiday and the cheltenham festival always falls during term time. I have been to the track before for the April meeting and it is unprecedented for the view you get of the whole track. However, you cant beat the festival for atmosphere.

I have to settle for getting the tele out in school and rushing home as soon as the bell goes. I spend ages researching my bets for this, and it is tough for even the best punters to pick winners at the festival. I had a winning 2006, an amazing 2007, 2008 was a disaster and this year I broke even.

well I had an ROI of -0.18% which is about as break even as you can get.

Played in the gambling.co.uk forum 150 euro added tourney last night on Poker.co.uk.

It is a great value tourney for a 5.50 euro buy in that usually gets between 12-18 runners.

It is also organised into a ten week league with the winner getting a free 110 euro seat into an invitational tourney (2K added) for the best rakers and winners on the site. This normally gets about 15-20 runners from 30 invites.

If the league winner cashes then he gives 20% back to the league and that is paid out to the next 4 in the league.

I came second last night, which helped me secure 3rd spot in the league. I have made over 200 euro from these tourneys in the last 10 weeks. I have set myself a challenge of spinning this up to 600 in 3 weeks, mainly by playing STTs and the odd MTT.

If I can do this then I will treat myself to the Skypoker grand final (still have a few satty chances there though) and to a one or two side events (depending on how successful I am) in the GUKPT when it comes to manchester next month.

I say treat myself, because these events are beyond my bankroll. However I am feeling starved of well structured live poker at the moment and do feel very dissapointed that I cant make APAT cardiff. If I can use the money in my Poker.co.uk account to fund this then it will feel like satting in for free though.

wish we luck
