Nostalgia -

One of the first rock song i listened to when i was younger, really the song that got me into the scene i am now, which in turn results in all my friends. Love it.

The WOW factor -

Was at this festival (Download Festival 2009) Slipknot are my favourite band, and this is my favourite song by them. When you hear the crowd start to sing the song at about 1min 35 it actually sends a shiver down my spone. WOW.

Sadness -

Again related to Slipknot. Their bass player Paul Grey died earlier this year. Coery Taylor is the lead singer in Slipknot AND Stone Sour, who played Download this year.

Corey did this as a tribute to Paul and it was genuinely the most emotional performace i have ever seen. Unreal singer, and so raw and emotional.

Nostalgia....

In fact most songs from 1980 to 1982 would work for me - takes me back to happy times. Remember The Specials, XTC, Adam and the Ants, Tenpole Tudor..... what an era!!

Wow factor...

Was in the crowd for this one - probably the best moment at a concert EVER!

Sadness....

Played at my Dad"s funeral last year. He was an England rugby fan who loved this hymn... can"t watch rubgy matches now without shedding a tear when the crowd sing this.

The APAT in Luton was as usual excellent, well run, great craic. The rubdowns on the contestants in that competition on Friday night will go down in the annals of APAT folklore.

The game Saturday was as usual good, Des even sold my seat when he thought I was out. My poker, as usual, did not live up to the overall standard of the day. Well done to all who final tabled and a bigger well done to all who medalled.

The Sunday game of stud was different, but played in great spirit and was very enjoyable.

A more detailed report will follow in due course cos I am a wee bit busy with work.

Now comes the bad news. I was in Warrington today. I knew I was on call for the Coventry weekend, but with remote computing that wouldn't be a problem. Not least because Saturday afternoons and nights are slack times in our depots and callouts are very rare. Bombshell arrived when it was announced that on that particular weekend I would be expected to assist with tasks that would put paid to the whole of Saturday afternoon. Bad beat but completely non swervable. The wee man will of course attend and take it down.

gutted.
