What a scrappy game, juvenile mistakes and lack of discipline. Step change in the second half required.

Had to rely on the old guard to save you, too close for comfort.

So far it"s not been the sort of quality rugby you would want to see from the home nations, especially in a World Cup year.

I"m sure you"ll agree it"s fantastic for the game of rugby that Italy can compete with the big boys.

100% Jack, with Treviso in the Celtic league things can only get better for them with good young home grown players coming through and not relying on foreign imports.

Being honest that was a dismal start to the campaign for a side I had hoped would be in the title shake up. Brian O"Driscoll scored a nice try buy his ball distribution was awful, two other tries went a begging with wayward passes. Italy are in our World Cup group (along with the Aussies, Russia and USA). Italy will only have been encouraged by today"s events.

I know we had a few missing (Heaslip/Bowe etc) but that side was still good enough on paper to win comfortably.

It took a drop goal to win this one when down to 14 men

Must do better in the rest of the matches or else it's not looking good.

I think there was a greater issue with our approach to the game and am confident that there"s a lot more to come. We certainly won"t be assuming easy victories in any of the remaining games, as we almost certainly did here.

Marie broke her wrist on Friday and has been in pain ever since. There is a temporary cast on it at the moment with a full cast going on Wednesday when the swelling goes down. The reason she is suffering is because she is allergic to all types of pain killers. Poor love that is a bad beat. If it gets really bad she takes the pain killer and an anti-histamine  tablet to lessen the reaction.

This evening she wanted to go round to a friend's house so she wanted a shower, a bin bag and some tape solved that one. She then comes down and we remove the bin bag, all good.

"Daddy will you put my hair in a ponytail" says she

Well how hard could that be, FML damn near impossible. Anyway that done, to a fashion, she goes upstairs to get dressed.

Next I hear some swearing from upstairs and I get a text. It's from Marie asking whether I was any good at applying makeup. I nearly spilled my drink, nearly mind.

You couldn't script it FFS --  Priceless
