"...abused her.  Worse still, all that sweet innocence lay,"

Doesn"t sound great for me - does it!!

The book is "Play Dead" by Harlan Coben.

OK literary licence required for "joining" purposes this is the start of a best seller.

He entered the shaft and felt as if he had been swallowed by an alien monster from the depths. He remembered that the XmNbackground and XmNborderColour resources can be set using either a colour name string or a hexadecimal colour specification. Looking round the shaft he recalled that Sulphate-resisting cements are worth specifying and using for masonry work at high-level on roofs and also for masonry below ground.

He was still angry that they had abused her.  Worse still, all that sweet innocence lay broken.

I"m reading an Ed McBain 3 book combo-book from Tesco so you get 3 for 1.

"When did she plan on leaving him, Mrs Thompson"

"Well, maybe when she started screaming she got nervous. I mean, you know, I thought it was my apartment and all"

"How did this affect the team?"

Remember, grab the nearest book to you, not your favourite one, and turn to page 56. Then go to line 5 and post the sentence that starts on that line or the previous one.

I seem to remember last year that rumours are high that Betfair were going to follow in the footsteps of William Hill and move offshore to avoid the 10% horseracing levy that all bookies in the United Kingdom are subject to. At the time they said no decision had been made.

hurrumph..... ::)

Email today from Betfair

Dear Gerard,

This email is to inform you that Betfair has taken the decision to restructure the licensing of its UK business. The changes will not impact your betting experience or the features available to you.

With effect from 00.01 on March 9th a new set of Terms and Conditions applies to the placement of Betfair exchange bets by you. These new terms will be available to view at Betfair.com from the above time.

After the above change comes into effect, any further use of our site, or services relating to it, will constitute acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions by you.

This change means that from the above time, you will be contracting with a licensed betting operator (TSE (Gibraltar) LP) within the Betfair group which is based in Gibraltar, and not Betfair Ltd, as was the case before. TSE (Gibraltar) LP"s activities will be governed by Gibraltar gambling regulations.

The provision of helpdesk, payments and other services will be unaffected.

Thank you for your continued custom which is important to us.

Sincerely,
The Betfair Team

Can you blame them really .............

Got my Council Tax Bill today.

Am I to be grateful that after numerous years of stupid rises they have decided that the bill will be the same as last year. Well I am not, because I do not, and have never got, any value from this shower of robbing bar stewards. I begrudge them every penny.

Town car rates are $110 from the airport to anywhere in Greater Orlando and $215 for a round trip, while stretch limos are $185 and $360.

I have a pile of 8 books on the table besides me - does the nearest one count as the one that"s nearest for me to just grab (top of the pile), or the one that"s the shortest linear distance (roughly half way)

i.e. Does that mean shortest in time or distance?

I wouldn"t want to get it wrong
