Obviously that should include horse meat which many seem to see as unpalatable - but to be honest I don"t think I"ve seen or heard a single person say about this current "scandal" that the horse meat in the burgers was disgusting, they"ve pretty much all said exactly the same as Ger has said. I"m not 100% sure who they are arguing with when I haven"t come across the opposite position anywhere.

If there can be horse in your beef, then there could be beef in your lamb or pork in your kangaroo! If you don"t eat certain meat due to your religious beliefs then packaging containing any meat other than what it says on the label is scandalous. There"s my opposite position!

This is actually quite correct - but not what I was trying to say, the most vociferous were not on religious grounds. For me it is still a point that for most people (religion excepted) the whole thing defies logic.

Reminds me of a conversation some years ago with a rather uppity young Lady, she was appalled that Dolphins were inadvertently killed in the nets of Tuna fishermen. She decided to make a stand for the Dolphins cause by refusing eat Tuna ever again.

Pork was found in more than twice as many beefburger samples as horse. Several religions object to pork, whereas Jews are the only religion I am aware of who object to eating horse. Yet all the publicity was about horsemeat, which endorses Ger"s original point, I think.

Ignoring the religious angle, are we saying that if you buy something packaged as beef sausages and it actually contains pork sausages, then nobody should be bothered because they taste just as good?

Yes I"ve seen a number of people who said that the mislabelling was an issue - just not anyone that the concept of it being horsemeat was the problem.

This is despite the fact that the media keep on harping on about that bit of it - I"ve seen one single news report that included the pork DNA contamination and the religious significance of that and every other article has only mentioned the horse meat.

I mainly just don"t like journalists setting the agenda by their take on a news story rather than actually representing what people are thinking come to think of it.

EDIT: further to AJDUK"s post - i.e. journalists want to make the story about horse meat whereas what most people are concerned about is the mislabelling

Beef sausages? Really?

Actually, I"ve just Googled it and found that such a thing does exist but, really? Can"t imagine what they would be like.

Watching a few breakfast ceral adverts and most of them finish off with the "try it hot" tag line. This makes me barf.

The reason ?

When I was in primary School we got a 1/3 pint of milk free for first break (good old days eh?). In the winter the nuns used to store the milk on top of the radiator and it obviously got slowly warm whilst being out of its proper temperature storage, and it tasted vile. To this day any mention of milk in anything other than an ice cold state makes me shiver......

In other news, you would not believe the amount of people that had to work from home today because of a flake or two that fell around here....
