Take off the guarantees from the schedule idea that Mark had (with my alterations) and I think it still works. I know I would love to see a 3 day APAT comp as a main event.

Maybe partner it with Aspers and get them to have satellites at their casinos around the country. Heavily promote it - is there a tagline about the bracelets that could be used? Call it the World Amateur Series Of Poker or something along those lines (obviously dependent on copyright etc etc). External sponsors as well (maybe Poker Player, Monster, Red Bull etc).

I"m just braindumping here but I think that with the right promotion etc, this could seriously happen. Just get the dates sorted very very quickly to avoid clashes as best as possible.

What...all 3 (or is it 4 now) of them?

I have no problem with a 3 day event, although I wouldn"t play and I"m not sure we/APAT could actually summon up the numbers [was the ME even full for Aspers, I know Day 1b struggled to meet the cap].

My "main" issue with the proposed "dream" schedule is that there"s too much 2 card stuff over the weekend.

I thought the WCOAP was perfect for PLO/PLO8 as an alternative to the ME. I know I"m in reasonably a small minority here though but I didn"t hear many a bad word against the non-HE stuff during the WCAOP that lasted very long.

If APAT truly want to go a "festival" route, 4 days should be enough for a mini-festival before really pushing the boat out for a WCOAP.

We need to bring the "fun" back to APAT. We"ve all got terribly serious about the Pokerz in recent years, what happened to the silly stuff we used to do on Friday nights & Saturday mornings.

Matt, bless him, goes all "extreme" but at least he"s trying.

Tom had some great ideas for fun, Friday night "silly" poker comps that he mentioned to me in Prague (name drop) and I"d like to see some of those ideas for S8.

Oops, I"ve crossed with the S8 discussion but I think it"s all part of the same thing really.

Paulie, less of the negative vibes....young bloods being passionate about pushing the APAT brand forward, yet met with lots of neggy feedback.

Granted, the Gtes could be taken off but there is no reason you cannot set the gte low (an amount we know it will surpass) just to be able to boast a gte, and that it was smashed when media coverage swoops in at the end.  Its all about Marketing sir.

I love the festival suggestions, and would fully support them.  Hell, if i had the time and a team behind me id run it myself as the In The Muck Festival

There is no harm in offering low gtes, they will get exceeded and its all positive reinforcement of the brands strength

I don"t see it as being "negative"...more being realistic based on 7 years experience. I"m not saying that the ideas here are bad per se just that I don"t see APAT getting that close to that level soon, but I"d happy to be surprised.

Having a "dream" is to be encouraged but when it comes down to it we have to work with what we have and in the actual environment / market (that dreaded word) we are in.

Low guarantees would be a good place to start.

APAT usually had banners around the ME final tables especially when there is any live / video coverage.

Award ceremonies are difficult, not only due to space, but also due to the odd finishing times and the fact that some people just want to go home. :)

I do recall that we did an APAT Awards at DTD once....I got the Hall of Fame Award then, don"t you know. :)

Not up to your usual standard Mr Wiltshire.
