Gutted there are no regionals, they were the bread and butter of APATs live poker, at a low low buy in.

I disagree.

The regionals "could" have been the bread and butter for APAT.  But they weren"t.  Many were self-deal, which is far from the APAT ideal.  Some were very badly run, others were brilliantly run.  But variance is not what APAT is trying to achieve.  I don"t think the casinos were ready for what APAT wanted to deliver.  From what Des is delivering for Season 3, it appears that the sponsor is thinking along the same lines.

The Nationals look great and with satellites in make them atainable at a low buy in, but how many will be left to buy in to?

It"ll be like Season 1 again.  If you want to play, you CAN get a seat.  It just depends how much you want a seat.  Yes, it might mean some are disappointed, but that"s the case no matter how the seats are allocated if the demand outweighs the availability.

Little bit confused about the club thing, is it live or on line, and if live, then where?

I need to re-read this again as well.

I know, the staging is difficult, but as a sportsman Saturday nights are lousy for me, particularly in the summer, and I can"t play the first on line in Jan cos of a family bash, so a bit pi**ed off about that.

For some, week nights are no good.  For some Saturdays are no good.  For others, Sundays aren"t any better.  I don"t think that Saturdays are ideal for me - but I think that they are good for the vast majority.  Sunday would arguably be better, but APAT have gone for Saturdays - and that"s the day they"ll be held.  I think I"ll have to miss a few unfortunately, but that"s how it will be.

I thank Des and the team for all their efforts, but at the moment having read through twice, I am left feeling a bit disappointed, for me the live side of the game was what APAT was all about, and at the moment that seems to have been reduced? Am I right? Or not? Been on the booze since 4, can"t actually believe I have managed to type this!

I think the Nationals are what APAT was (and still is) about.  The regionals would be part of this in an ideal world, but they didn"t quite hit the mark or reach the APAT standard in Season 2.  Like I"ve said previously, some of the venues held regionals that were worthy of the APAT ideal - but many others weren"t.

I hate saying this, but I have to agree with Daniel, & I think this is the best Des & team can deliver to keep most happy, under the current circumstances. tx

This all changed just over a week ago.  The sponsor and all of the cardrooms were more than happy to include the National Qualifying series in place of the Regional Championship.  The new Managing Director cut the marketing budgets considerably and in line with this APAT recommended its preferred way forward.

Shame the regional live events have been lost, but since I live in Oxford I won"t miss traveling 60+ miles to play a self-dealt £20 freeze-out.

Isn"t early stages of the wsop self deal? :)

I don"t know, why?

Just imagine how far you would have to travel if you got there.  :P

8,000 miles isn"t it?  I can"t win $10 million in a regional though.  It"s late I"m not sure what your point is fella.

How is the winning club decided in the National League final? Is it the club the individual winner belongs to or are points awarded for places 1 to 9 as in the fortnightly constituent events?

Jack,

It"s based on the 1 to 9 system, with the winning team coming from the Southern Division, obviously.   ;D

Back to this, i just think you might find that most live poker tourneys are self deal one way or another - no matter how far you travel. Just used wsop as an example is all. :-*

I would guess this means some of the super sats at the Rio. The bracelet events themselves are not self deal.

Self dealt games in casinos are my biggest poker peeve so my live casino pokering is restricted to trips to DTD and APAT nationals.  I know DTD isn"t a casino but you know what I mean.

I played in a tournament at Blackpool"s G-Casino a few weeks ago.  Only 16 runners and yet it was self-dealt.  The place was deserted, none of the black-jack dealers were occupied, yet they couldn"t find two dealers for us.  Shocking scenes.  Shocking shocking shocking.  I emailed Barack Obama about this cause he"s the king of everywhere now, but have yet to receive a reply.

The end.
