I"ll miss the regional qualifiers, not just because that was my first experience fo APAT but much more sociable than on-line.

Still, a good line-up and hopefully not too much clashing with my hols to Australia.

To summarise; If you have no interest in trying to Satellite in, you can join the ClickFest at 9pm on 15th January for the UK Amateur Poker Championship. This is a "fastest-finger-first" race for the remaining seats and is usually a button that appears on the home page of this website dead on 9pm.

I have read this now 5 times and I think I have got my head around it.

First of all, thank you Des and the rest of APAT for season 2 and the hard work you have put into season 3

The nationals don't need to be touch, but you have, and they are better. Extra level, longer clock and antes. This is a step forward.

Online national is a big step forward. This series is now an "event" it now as a purpose. Bigger buy in with satellites so people with small back rolls can still compete.

Keeping the two apart is also good (in terms of ranking points)

Online league, now this is were a struggle. If I have read this right, it looks like there are 2 leagues in one. First of all you have to come in the top 4 in your poker club then your club as to come in the top 3 in your division (yes/no). So if you are in a club of 30 then it will be harder to come in the top 4 but your club will have a bigger chance in a top 3 finish than a club of 10. If you are in a club of 10 then you have a better chance of getting in the top 4 but your club as a disadvantage in getting in the top 3 (yes/no).

The loss of the regionals is a disappointment, but hopefully they will be back in season 4

As for the games being on a Saturday and Sunday night, well they have to be on 1 of the 7 nights so why not a Saturday and Sunday. You will always have people for and against no matter which night you play on.

As a new guy this does not seem fair. With out regionals it will be harder for us new players to get in these bigger events

How many people do they alow to play. (Field Size?)

Anyway, I will give it ago.

The regionals gave us new players a chance to ease into the APAT. This year it seem like they are not catering to us new players, and that is too bad.

Thanks for the info..

It makes no difference if you"re a new player or "old" player Sean.

Due to the economic downturn, the effects of which are being felt at Grosvenor / BlueSq, the Regionals had to be removed from our Schedule. In showing our support to our Sponsor, we will now run alternative Qualifying Tournaments Online (on BlueSq) at Buy-Ins to suit all - $5, $10 and $20.

"Three satellites will be made available at Blue Square in the run up to all National Championship events. There will be a Monday $20 + $2 freezeout, a Tuesday $10 + $1 freezeout and a Wednesday $5 + $0.50 rebuy.  Non allocated seats will be sold directly to players on a Thursday evening.  All dates will be updated on the APAT site in the next 24 hours."

like the new season looks better the ranking are better with just the big comps the only way of getting  points as last season people getting point in the regional was not the best as some had more people depending which casino you was in. i think moving from thursday to saturday and sunday are better and with 10k chips and a $75 will make them very good comps

am i to take it that there will be no clickfest this season for the nationals and you will just register online on blusq

ClickFests will still be available;

Sentence above refers to it;

Quote
Non allocated seats will be sold directly to players on a Thursday evening.

Dates for these ClickFests can be found on the far right column of this page; http://www.apat.com/schedule_S3_National.php

Generally, field size is limited to 200, but there are a few exceptions - at DTD it may well increase, and in Edinburgh and Dublin it will probably be around 150. We"ll probably find that maybe around 30% of the seats will be taken up by sats, the rest will be available via the online "clickfest".

Without wanting to sound harsh, you"ll have exactly the same chance as everybody else who wants to play.

Neil, Leigh and I are still in discussion over this. We"ll hopefully publish something around the New Year - and before anyone asks, New Year 2009 !

Well done to Des and everyone involved in organising it. I"m really looking forward to taking part in most, if not all, of the events...

* I"m not really bothered by the loss of the regional qualifiers for the reasons that Daniel gave - some weren"t as well organised as others etc.

* I"m really looking forward to the WCOAP Omaha event and the WCOAP Main Event at DTD - think it would be really good if there was two starting days like has been mentioned as a possibility as this would give even more players the chance to play in the event, leave less people disappointed and make for a juicy prize pool.

* Another thing that was mentioned before (not sure by who) but think it would be good to have the $75 online tournies on a Sunday starting early-ish (6 or 7pm) like the Sunday Majors on other sites. And have the $10 tournies on a weekday instead of a Sunday to suit the people who want weekday games. I"m not bothered either way as will make time for the tournies when I can no matter what day they"re on.

All in all, great schedule - i"m really looking forward to playing as many events as possible and participating in APAT for my first full season...

Thanks again to Des and all involved.

Will the WCOAP Omaha Championship be a £75 event or £50 again...?

I remember you saying it could be upgraded to full national level in S3 in another thread due to it"s popularity so assuming this means it"s £75? I"m in no matter what!!!
