Huge thanks to Adam for not only doing all the updating but for writing the event report for me - thank you mate.

A few firsts for APAT...

PLO Main Event...

Amateur Poker Championship held in an hotel...

David Pilkington got a round in...

Ger looked sober (he wasn"t)...

NLHE Side Event still going on, and cash table, so it"s not over for us yet, but overall I think well worth doing - although I would like to confirm now that PLO will NOT be the Main Event for the Season 9 Irish Amateur Poker Championship.

Also huge thanks to Larry for managing the overall event here - tables, dealers, TDs, etc, and to Presty and Kim for event registration and cash desk etc.

Until next time... (Coventry I think!)

The real question is whether there has ever been an APAT Festival where JP hasn"t cashed in a side event.

It is Roy "The Boy" Brindley.

I have no idea what he does now but am informed he is no longer a pro player...hence his eligibility for this.

And what about the winner? Described as a Professional on pretty much every site.

Isn"t the reality often a bit different when this question comes up?  Although fair play to him if he can survive on $3.4k average annual winnings over the past 10 years.

I doubt there are many pros worldwide who could survive if you don"t include their online/cash games either.

The GPI describe him as SCOTT "THE ICE MAN" GRAY

Any poker player with a nickname as their middle name on GPI must be a pro.

Right ?   ;D

Whichever way it"s perceived, it"s done now anyway.  The whole "pro player" status thing has self-policed itself pretty well over the last 8 years.

Maybe one got through in Dublin, then again, maybe not.

Anyway, I"ve got an article to write about the best European Poker Pro"s homing in on Coventry next weekend.   ;D

Yeah, whether he is or he isn"t, it had no effect on where I finished  ;)

In the meantime, you may want to get a proofreader to check your article for superfluous apostrophes.
