Great thread Leigh.

I remember my first event in Sept 2006 at the Broadway in Birmingham. I wasn"t playing of course.

I remember feeling 1,000 feet tall when I walked into the venue, although I was completely nervous about whether we could deliver to expectations. I need not have worried, Tighty and tikay were immense and we were quickly on our way.

Very very happy days.

Yes if I remember correctly George was the first man to win something at an apat :)

I was at the very first apat event and at the time there was no low buy in dealer dealt deepstack events with such a structure. I think apat can take credit for forcing others to up their game. I think I spent the Friday night in rhinos with Ironside and I remember I got knocked out early in the tourney but the casino did a nice cloudy lager that went down very well. I remember being on the rail was great fun that day as there was a very special feel about the tourney - it was back in the day when everyone eliminated got a round of applause and you felt part of a special event.

Cardiff 2008.

I sat between Josh Sugarman and Andy Price for all of the first day. Also came up against James Edwards, Steve Harrison, Simon Auckland, Dave Potter, Tim Magnus and Jeldon Fernandez. Brendan Hartnett was inducted into the Hall of Fame. I learned a lesson in that tournament courtesy of Andy. With 15 minutes left of Day 1, he said "Raise" and pushed in 6,000 chips. Due to his headphones, he hadn"t heard Seat 1 go all-in for 28k. Andy was forced put in double the 28k, which took most of his stack. To make matters worse, the quiet girl at the end of the table, with a stack of 56k, had picked up KK. He was crippled, while she shot into the chip lead with over 140k and made the final. We sat beside each other on the final table, finishing 5th and 6th, and had dinner together, but we didn"t keep in touch afterwards. Liz, I think she was called. Don"t wear headphones.

My first mention on APAT:

Josh Sugarman has 12,000..sat next to a bloke with a beard and a bald fella
5th place - Portsmouth Snooker Club £10 rebuy

Liz Lieu borrowed my pen - 01/06/2013

Season 1 Newcastle, not alot to remember. First poker game in a UK casino, did not make the first break, back home by 9.00pm. At the time i was number 1 in the rankings thanks to 2 on-line FT. Met Des, Tighty and Tiky, you can read my blog for the rest (Shrek comes to mind  ;))

I get your point there Leigh  ;) the man is a legend, also I just spotted Liv Boeree I  think, no wonder John Murray is deep in thought, probably contemplating getting his cue out, for a frame or two at the Portsmouth snooker club.

I think this was my first event, Main Event of the WCOAP 2011.

Got 3bet pre by Ian Thompson, had Dave Howard asking me why i hadnt 3bet him yet, and pretty sure that we finally went to war AA v JJ.

Bust last hand of Day 1, AKdd v KJo aipf.....for chunks, just after sorting a hotel out for the night....then had the glorious 3 hr drive home feeling sorry for myself

It didnt need pointing out for some of us ;)

The Vic Worlds 2 day event 2008. Had to check the gallery pics to see if I recognised any of the players as I was such a bag of nerves.

The guy to my left...Simon if I recall correct was a regular back then. Dan to my right I knew through blonde but had no idea who the rest were.

I made day 2 which was very exciting for a newbie. Short stacked I got lucky getting KK early on but busted the final table shoving with AQ suited pre and called by KJo (bastrd)...flop xQK...sigh.

10th wasnt too bad a result :)

More memorable was the next game in Walsall.

I had Mr Redfern and Mr Swindells to my right and Mr Logan on my left...im fooked I thought. Its so far back I cant remember who else was there. I do recall a hand against Steve where I tried to trap with KK, flop was A high and I reraised his bet which was suicidal...can only put it down to nerves. He folded QQ face up and I havent told till now what I had ;)

I didnt do too well after that and the rest of the evening was spent looking after a mate who was mortal drunk LOL.
