England - Team Discussion
« on: August 08, 2008, 12:46:19 PM »
This thread should be used to discuss England team selections for the European Team Championship.

Players wishing to be considered for one of four places on the England team should highlight the fact to  non playing Captain, Alan Lake.

Please bear in mind that Alan"s selections are likely to be largely based on APAT National Rankings and Championship performances.

Just a thought,  I would think this thread is going to end up a mile long with wonna be players wishing to represent England. I would guess that proportionately we would have much more players wanting to take part.

How about having an A and B team or north and south or a team of ranked players and a second team of wild card selections??

I agree with Chelsea, about the fact that this thread may get rather long... not that England should have more than one team.

Soooooo... not wishing to spoil everyone"s fun or anything, but please be assured that there is no need to actually put your name forward. Not all APAT members use the forum on a regular basis, when I have a shortlist for the team I/APAT will contact individuals to confirm avaliability and/or desire to take part.

If haven"t already seen it, please see my post post on the original thread - http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=1777.msg28604#msg28604

(You can ignore the bit about runes and crystal balls... far too expensive!!)

To that I would add that I have been asked to be the captain and select the team... select being the operative word, whilst the overall season two rankings will be taken into consideration, you do not need a non-playing captain to simply pick the first four Englishmen/women from a list.

As stated, the top English player in overall rankings will get one of the four places... so, with one live event and six online events remaining, there are still plenty of points up for grabs for those near the top of the leaderboard to cement a place in the team.

Good luck all,
Alan

We have a very competitive looking tournament to look forward to Nigel and I think adding a second England team of any ilk would dilute the credibility we are seeking to bring to the event.  By its very nature it should be extremely difficult to get into the National team.  I think Alan has a difficult job but we can be very confident that he will pull together the best possible selection of players for this event.

I do hope that Cornwall is considered part of England.

I am ready willing and able to represent England, and would be proud to do so.

It's only a Game

I could list my APAT achievements here, but I am too modest, and there isn't enough space
