Welcome to the UK Amateur Poker Championship Day 1 here in Aspers Casino, Newcastle, where Lucy Amos will be providing live updates throughout the event.

The dynamic duo of Des Duffy and Leigh Wiltshire will be "playing together" with a live stream trial over the weekend, which we expect to see start after the first break.

Small problem with dealers at present, so we have elected for a 30 min delay whilst we round up a few locals who can shuffle and throw the cards... so a 3pm start.

A reminder of the full APAT schedule of events:

Sat 28th Nov

#1 14:30-01:30 latest - Main Event APAT UK Amateur Poker Championship (NLHE Freezeout) (Day 1) £75+£7.50.
15k chips, 45 min clock, late entry to and including first break.  No Deals Facilitated.  Est Max 180.

#2 19:00- APAT NLHE Side Event £25+£5.
10k chips, 20 min clock, break every 2 hours - late entry to and including first break.  1 re-entry allowed.

Sun 29th Nov

12:00-completion Main Event APAT UK Amateur Poker Championship (Day 2)

#3 13:00- APAT PLO Side Event £25+£5.
15k chips, 30 min clock, break every 2 hours - late entry to and including first break.  1 re-entry allowed.

#4 17:30- APAT "Crazy Pineapple" Side Event £25 + £5.
15k chips, 20 min clock, break every 2 hours - late entry to and including first break.  1 re-entry allowed.

Later than expected and with a few hiccups but, we are in full shuffle up and deal mode and the chips and cards are flying as always.

There are currently over 120+ entries and late entry is running to and including the first break.

We are currently in the last minute of level 2 (blinds 50/100) and will be in level 3 for 45 minutes with blinds at 75/150.

Just to note, David Amos (Pokerpops) has more than doubled his 15k starting stack with the help of Aces twice - once against Kings, and a turned full house with pocket 4"s.
