Why?

I am sure this has probably been asked before as it is probably standard for a live APAT event but can someone please explain to me why the live events are 10 table all the way through and the final table is 9?

PS this has nothing to do with me going out 10th and missing out on my £5 e/w bet LOL

Hi Suzanne -- yep you were a tad unlucky after some sterling play. As for the format I think it"s a Grosvenor thing and has nowt to do with APAT

A lot of tourneys have smaller final tables compared to the rest of the tourney. Aussie millions and WPT events for example (and maybe WSOP?)

I think the reasoning for a 9 handed FT is that when there are 10 players left you can have two equal tables of 5 for the FT bubble rather than 2 unequal tables.

Good show in 10th suzanne and v ul on not making the FT.

I can add that the WSOP move to 9 handed quit a bit further out, I"m not sure what the criteria is but we had been 9 handed for a while before the money bubble (270"ish of 2787 runners).

I prefer nine.  A bit more elbow room.  Not that I"ve made a final table, but I"m imagining a bit more elbow room.

Which is exactly what APAT did for the first National - but then it"s another bubble that has to burst.

Especially when the fella went out with AA...
