Omaha Hi-Lo

Raunaq Latif moves up, winning a big three-way pot against Warren Jones and Noelle Baq.

The shared cards were 10d 2c 4s A s 8s and lots of chips had been bet.

On the River, Raunaq bet and the other two both called.

His hand Ah 3c 5d Ks was good enough to scoop high and low.

Stud Hi-Lo

An interesting scenario occurred on Table 1, where Warren Jones was dealt his 7th Street card face up. The hand was heads-up by that stage and the ruling was that the other player should also receive his card face-up and action then continues as normal.

Jon the TD mentioned that this was the ruling because they are heads-up, so I pulled him aside to ask if it would be different if there were more than two players involved. He explained that the heads-up scenario is just a case of equalising the players" situations, but if there are more players involved, they all receive their final card face down as normal. The player who received the face-up card is then first to act, irrespective of cards showing, and he has the option to go all-in, even though it"s a limit game and even if it exceeds the cap. If he goes all-in for an amount that is less than the cap, other players may re-raise, but only to the cap. If his all-in exceeds the cap, other players may only call. He can also make a normal bet or check. If he does, betting then continues as normal and he no longer has the all-in option if the betting comes back to him. Isn"t that interesting?

Jon knows everything.

Raunaq Mucks A Winner!

Raunaq Latif mucked the winning hand in a 10k pot. The British cowboy had AK showing and turned over AK at showdown for two pair and Raunaq mucked. After a couple more hands had passed, he suddenly said "You didn"t have a full house that time, did you?" and revealed that he had mucked a flush.

Both Players Give Up!

All the fun scenarios are happening on Table 1. Noelle Baquiche and Warren Jones get into it early, but it all slows down near the end as their good starting hands go miss-miss-miss.

Noelle:  A s 6s 8d 10c
Warren:  Jc 5h Kd Qd

Noelle bet until 5th street, but checked 6th and 7th and Warren checked behind.

Warren had Ah 5c  4c, which gave him a pair of fives with no low.

Noelle mucked.

What could she have had that doesn"t beat a pair of fives, but yet doesn"t give her a low? Not many possibilities....

JP Round, following a less than perfect journey here, comes to the updating desk and quietly says "I am no expert, but I find the strategy of forgetting that this is hi/lo Omaha to be fairly unsuccessful..."

It"s really close at the head of the HORSE:

26k Edward Jackson-Spivack
24k Krzysztof Pregowski
23k Jonathan Dugdall
22k Jozsef Erdos
22k Stephen Sapsford
20k Chris Webber

Edward knocked out Raunaq a minute ago, picking up 3k to lift him into the lead.

Two big hands in quick succession:

I join the hand at the turn with Qc Ad 8h 6c on the board.
Billy Wicher moves all in and Laszio Kezkody calls.

The action is now on Kamil Mierzejev, he ponders and makes the call...he thinks they are heads up so he flips his cards!

The floor is called and the ruling is that action continues with Kamil"s hand face up.

Kamil is showing 8s 6h 4d 2d

The river card is the Qd and Billy mutters "that"s a bad card for me."

Laszio looks at the board and looks at Kamil"s cards.

He checks as does Kamil and the cards go over.

Laszio Ks Jh 3c 4c

Billy A s Kh 8c 5d

Billy takes the high and Kamil takes the low.

Instantly after, I look round at the table behind me and Tom Slikboer is all in pre flop.

Seat 2 (didn"t manage to catch his name, may be able to amend when seating list provided) is all in also for much less, it is on Darren Hand to make the decision.

He calls and three hands go on their backs:

Tom shows Qc 3s Ac Ad
Seat 2 has As 2h 3c 6c
Darren turns over Ah Qh 2s 4s

All up to the cards now: Js 7c 5c Jh 9s

Tom wins the high and, with no low, scoops the full pot and knocks out the player in seat 2.
