Prior to the Volpe result, it was pretty tight at the top. Luca had a ten-point lead, but it was quite bunched after that:

Selector          Points
Luca          62
Chris          52
Steve          48
Barrie          47
Glenn          43
Simon L          43
Richard          37
Carl          34

Post Volpe, the four who had him have all moved to the top of the table, and Luca has extended his lead:

Selector          Points
Luca          89
Barrie          73
Richard          62
Carl          60
Chris          52
Steve          49
Glenn          44
Simon L          43
Craig          34
Adam          26
Paul          23
Suzanne          21
Tom F          20
Karen          19
Simon B          19
Dann          17

It"s all about to heat up even more, cos #16: $10k 2-7 has just hit the final table and we have three of the seven remaining players. Mercier is chip-leader, Mike Watson is second and Chidwick is fourth. A lot of us have these players, though. Fifteen of us have Mercier and eleven have Chids. Five people have both (incl Luca and Carl). Only one person has Watson, though, which is, er, me. I"m unlikely to trouble the leaders, though, no matter what happens.

In #14 the Millionaire Maker, we are down to one player, Simon Deadman. He should have been eliminated a minute ago, but caught very lucky to double up - now 17/64.

#17 $1k NLHE is down to 116 players. We just have one player, Craig McCorkell, still in this, in 16th place. It looks to me that a few LPPL players have cashed in this and one of them, Dave Stones, is currently near the top of the leaderboard in 10th place.

Craig has just left the action, 3 players get it all in pre flop, Craig with 66, Georg Zacher with QQ and Charles Carragher with KK. Flop Q 10 6! A 5 on turn means nothing but the K on the river knocks Craig and Zacher out!

We"ve got another bracelet!

Mercier has won the 2-7.

We also had Watson, who came second and Chidwick, who was sixth.

Most of us had Mercier in our team and quite a few had Chid, with just one picking Watson.

Ahem!

I believe this is the first time someone has had the first and second placed players on their team.
On the other hand, I was in last place before this, so it ain"t gonna change much,

My team at work. Crowd trouble seems unlikely.

Dave Stones has finished 37th in the $1k (#17) for $6.8k.

LPPL has had a fantastic run in the $1k events over the last few years and the players continue to deliver.

Our only selection to cash was McCorkell, who finished 60th, so that"ll be a point for his regular supporter, Dave Paxton.

Romanello is placed second, btw, with 30 left.

The Millionaire Maker (#14) moves into its second week and there are just 15 left. Our interest ended when Deadman fell in 27th. Points later.

Tod Wood finished 128th for $7.6k and LPPL player Ben Murray was 277th, winning $5.7k.

Just 27 left in the HORSE (#18) and, unusually, we don"t have many of them, with just Owen and Parker there for us. We normally hit well in the mixed events but, I assume, most of the likely players were tied up too long in the 2-7 or the 8-Game. Scheduling could be better?

And another one.

Brian Yates has cashed in #19 $1k PLO, finishing 142nd for $1.6k.

Give it a rest, guys.

Of our players, Bojang, Shak and Danzer are still going.

STAKER - WSOP #16 2-7 Lowball Championship

Staker          Stake          Winnings          Profit
Simon Brooke          £6,960          £115,204         £108,244
Suzanne Hayward          £6,960           £  95,121         £  88,161
Ross Freeman          £6,960           £  41,201         £  34,241
Dann Williams          £6,960           £  13,882         £    6,922
Simon Lawlor          £6,960           £  13,882         £    6,922
Shirley Cole          £6,960           £  10,763         £    3,803

WOW WOW WOW!!!

Mercier bringing it home has resulted in MASSIVE wins for the stakers.

Simon won over £100,000 and Suzanne wasn"t far off that line.

We have been regarding £20k, £30k, £40k wins as massive (which they are), but £108k and £88k are out of the park.

On a normal day, we would be raving over Ross" £34k profit, which is a huge result in its own right.

Simon B and Ross both had a bit on Chidwick as well, adding an extra £5k to their winnings. Dann and Simon L went further, and coined in £10k from Chids. If only they had backed Mercier as well.

Shirley stuck with Negreanu (and why not?) and, once again, it proved to be profitable for her.

Result of the Millionaire Maker. I could have missed someone. Do let me know if your favourite donkey finished 994th and I will add their point.

The winner, Jason Dewitt, who won his second bracelet, endeared himself to the masses with his post-tournament comments - "Nothing"s going to change........I already have a good lifestyle."

More compelling was Lisa Meredith, who finished third and won $500k in her first ever WSOP tournament. She has only one other recorded poker cash, in April this year when she cashed in a 529-runner tournament, finishing in......1st place. I have a feeling this one has played quite a lot, just in under-the-radar events.

Mikhail Semin reached his second final table this year. Having finished 5th in the $10k Dealers Choice, he got his second the hard way, in a field of 7,190 entries.
