As stated in the WCOAP discussion thread there will be cash games running on Monday and Tuesday before the HORSE event on the 12th.

I got clearance from work to come up and play and I'm yet to book the trains and accommodation because I need to gauge whether or not it's worth coming up for cash games prior to the HORSE event on the Wednesday. I'm already booked into EventBrite for the HORSE.

I'm very excited because it might be the only time England will ever see a live fixed limit HORSE cash game!

I made this thread so people can register their interest in these games, discuss whether FL or PL is preferred, what kind of stakes, and what sort of time people can be expected to show up so we can all convene to play together etc.

Personally I would like to play 2/4 limit with 50p ante and £1 bringin in the stud rounds but there has been mention of 2/2 DC also. A lot of us aren't made of money and anyone who has played PL DC knows it can get expensive fast, and I'd prefer to keep the games going over the course of the two days rather than people running out of money because they got stacked, hence why fixed limit is the way to go.

Not only that, it will be great preparation for the HORSE event which will be in the same sort of format.

I will be in the casino early Monday afternoon.

If you see a guy who looks like this:

Yeah, that's me  ;D

I'm sure you'll have interest in this Adam - I'll keep my eye on it and if the desire is there, just let me know and then I'll only be too happy to discuss it with the venue to get it off the ground for you guys.

What kind of buy-in do these games need?

Optimum buyin for £2/£4 limit is going to be 16 big bets plus 1 ante, so £64.50. But nobody in live poker reloads as soon as they go 1 chip under unlike online so it's probably best to sit with between £80 and £100.

Reason: in the stud variant rounds of HORSE if all streets are capped you would have bet £64.50.

You could sit with less than optimal amounts but then you would be denying the opportunity to profit by the maximum number of big bets.

Pretty sure the minimum would be 5 big bets so £20 if it's anything like online.

Interesting thanks Peri. Thought it would be much higher, never played it live but would definitely be interested in playing a HORSE cash game. Oh and definitely FL for me. Have already spent £400 buying in online to these events and would definitely like to keep the cash affordable, definitely

Had a fun weekend at my first APAT events, cashed in the 6-Max and looking forward to the rest of the week!

Is there any chance of this HORSE cash going ahead do we know?

I have been in both nights and ended up playing 1/1 NLHE to my utmost dismay.

Tuesday night i asked the Cardroom Manager to announce a HORSE and a PLO8 list and i was flatly refused.

This is very poor IMO to not even bother announcing that a game could be possible. How can players know it can be done if there is no information to suggest it?

I suppose it is to be expected for a betting structure that hasn't been used live in England for over 30 years.

They put me on a RoE list and said that would be for whatever i wanted but refused to announce the possibility of such games.

I was also disheartened to learn that there is little knowledge from the dealers how to deal these games and I had to inform a dealer I think who was called Lewis how fixed limit poker worked. He didn't even know that there were 5 betting rounds in 7 card stud games and told me he had only been dealing 4 in the 8 game and nobody said anything!!!

I then informed him about 1 bet and 3 raises and how the bet doubles and that the stakes are not what the blinds are. I gave him a cash game structure and suggested a 4 quid session fee for Wednesday's HORSE cash.

It's going to be £2/£4 FL with 50 ante in stud games and £1 bring in. When you buy your chips make sure you have a couple of 20 stacks in 50p and £1 chips, the rest in £5's and you can pull up again with £5's or £25's if you get short. Since the bets will always be below 5 quid we don't want time wasted constantly changing 5 quid chips.

Try to get the dealers leaving the bets in front of players in HU pots in high low games. It saves a lot of time.

The comp is in 6 hours so I better get some sleep.

Look for the young guy in the smart blue jacket. That's me.

Please pressure the room staff into getting a game for us. They said they will get it running if 3 or 4 of us come as a group to demand it.

Overall I feel disappointed with the poker room and really stupid for bothering to come two days early to play cash.

All sounds very disappointing.

I have been back home  for work but am back today for the HORSE MTT and hopefully the rest of weekend. Hopefully we can get a few players as people bust in the MTT to get a table started for a  bit of cash.

Congrats on the bink!

I heard the announcement for the HORSE cash game, but was still in the comp, but when I bust there was no sight nor sound of it. Playing the ROE each today but still keen to play this cash game
