Any details of event 19?

The damned thing has been going on for a month and it's still not over. I've been trying to ignore it.

For those who don't know, this is the $365 event with about 100 starting days. Everyone who survived their Day 1 cashed.

There are 27 left out of the 10,000+ entries and we have none of them. No doubt there are a few single points scattered through the 1,447 cashes. Gawd.

The Main Event has started and Day 1A is done. We'll get back to that but there are three other tournaments still winding up, plus one more to be played later in the week. Still going:

#19 The Giant - $365 No-Limit Hold'em - 27 left, including Eric Baldwin and John Myung. We don't have any of them.

#70: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship - 5 left
1 Heidi May 1,752,000
2 Deborah Worley-Roberts 861,000
3 Julie Dang 458,000
4 Jana de la Cerra 280,000
5 Katherine Ansorge 250,000

#72: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship
1 Perry Friedman 1,737,000
2 Chris Ferguson 853,000
3 Sean Mirrasouli 580,000
4 Mike Wattel 511,000
5 Bryce Yockey 392,000
6 John Monnette 289,000
7 Shaun Deeb 39,000

Monnette and Ferguson are 3rd and 4th in the POY race. They are already going to collect enough points for Monnette to take the lead. For Ferguson to take over first place, he will have to win and Monnette finish 5th or worse.

Good luck to Deborah today!

Is there a prize for finishing bottom 3? I'm pretty close to that!  ;D

This was supposed to be one of the first events, but was switched with the  High Roller at short notice. It ended up attracting a lot more interest when it was played at the end, becoming critical to the Player of the Year standings, with two of the finalists in the running for POY, one being the widely-disliked Chris Ferguson. Ferguson needed to finish second to overhaul the current leader, but could still be behind John Monnette if he finished high enough.

Monnette finished fifth, making Ferguson's task harder, as he now had to win to take the lead. When he got to heads-up, the bracelet would have mattered more to him than the POY. Heads-up between Wattel and Ferguson was one of the hardest-fought matches of the Series, between two highly-skilled contenders. After an epic six hours heads-up struggle, Wattel managed to take a couple of key pots and the bracelet.

And what a result for Amir Mirrasouli, proud holder of one previous WSOP cash amounting to $1.6k, who found himself on the final table taking on seven bracelet-winners, all with WSOP resumes as long as your arm, two of whom had picked up bracelets this year. He held his own, finishing fourth.

So close to another bracelet

This was a strange event - it had a Day 1 each week, with Days 2 & 3 at the end. It was the lowest-priced event, so lots of amateurs might have played if it didn't mean they would have to come back to Vegas for Day 2 a couple of weeks later. Still, it had more than 10,000 entries, so they were probably satisfied with that.

Dieter Dechant is a Vegas poker room supervisor (GVR Poker Room anyone? No, me neither.), who had no WSOP cashes until this year. Maybe he was always working before. He finished 3rd out of 5,389 in the Seniors and 1st out of 10,015 in this, for combined winnings of $574k.

Audley - looked good for a while, but ended up being knocked out

I am checking all of the players' records in case I missed any scores, before posting the current points list.

There is one player with a very big lead, but the other places are up for grabs in the Main Event.
