A guide to Brighton
« on: September 23, 2008, 22:57:42 PM »
For anyone planning on playing or railing the APAT UK & European Team Championships on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November 2008, here"s a few bits of information that may help.  I"m sure there are some very local APAT"ers that may wish to add to this thread.

The Casino

Grosvenor Casino Brighton

The Address

9 Grand Junction Road
Brighton
BN1 1PP

T: 01273 326514
F: 01273 325964

The casino is located right on the seafront close to the Palace Pier

Parking

The casino has very limited underground parking (about 20-25 spaces with jockey parking in the evenings) which requires a NASA style sat nav system to be able to work out how to get to if you"ve not been there before.

There are a number of other car parks within a five minute walk.

Hotels

In Brighton you are spoilt for choice when it comes to accomodation.  I wouldn"t like to recommend anywhere inparticular, but if you want ultra convenience to the casino, then The Thistle Brighton is less than a minute walk away.

According to the Premier Inn"s website, their Brighton Central hotel is already fully booked for that weekend.

Most other hotels are no more than a 5-10 minute walk away and you should get a good deal with it being in November.

Other Entertainment

There are two pubs either side of the casino and loads more within a five minute walk.

Brighton play Millwall on Saturday 1st November at the Withdean Stadium, Kick Off 3pm.

The Feeling play at The Brighton Centre on Saturday 1st November.

Brighton has another casino called The Rendezvous located at Brighton Marina, which is a short taxi journey from the Grosvenor.

As you might have guessed, I"m running out of things to say.  Feel free to post any relevant Brighton info that you might have.

Cheers for that hun :)

Re Hotels, from the reviews Ive read of the Royal Albion, avoid it like the plague :D

The Queens hotel is situated right beside the casino and there is also a few others.  Google maps then put in BN1 1PP hotels then it will show you a list of ones nearby.

You didn"t mention Dr Brighton"s?
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Thanks for the info Rio.  Have done a quick google and here"s some more info.

Dr Brighton"s

One of Brighton"s most popular drinking establishments, particularly with clubbers, hence all the flyers and posters everywhere. It"s a friendly but lively pub, popular with both gay men and women. Live DJ"s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights to get you in the mood for going out. Watch out for drinks offers most nights, you can also buy advance tickets for the big monthly "Wild Fruit" club night.

Will try and get confirmation as to when "Wild Fruit" club night is, for anyone interested.
