WCOAP 2018 Details / Player Briefing

Ladies & Gents, I look forward to welcoming you to the conclusion of APAT's Season 11 - the 11th holding of the World Championship Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP).

Primarily I'll be working to ensure a smooth running of the WCOAP, whilst also aiding Lucy Amos to provide player lists and bust outs and a full live update/blog/pics on every event via both the APAT Forum and Facebook/Twitter (with such an ambitious schedule we will endeavour to blog more than this as minimum), and Leigh Wiltshire will also live stream at times throughout the week, but who has also kindly stepped in to help us out on the Wed and Thu where he'll be coordinating all things for the Team Championship, which looks set to be hugely exciting with no less than 14 teams competing for the title!

To play poker at Grosvenor BNR Manchester, you MUST be a member of Grosvenor Casinos - to join as a member, photo ID is required.  If you are a member of ANY Grosvenor casino then this is acceptable at BNR - please bring along your membership card and use the 'swipe entry' system.

Dress code is smart casual - no sports/football attire, and tailored shorts, caps and hoodies are allowed in the poker room.
  
PARKING

Grosvenor BNR has ample free parking... around 120 bays immediately outside the main entrance, plus around 60 additional bays in an overflow car park at the opposite end of the casino building - you can also park on Ramsgate Street.

All players will have a tournament player tracking card for each event, and it must remain visible on the table in front of them at all times - and when knocked out it must immediately be given to the dealer.

APAT EVENT BUY-IN AND REGISTRATION

Players may reserve a seat in advance via the APAT Eventbrite facility HERE - this facility will close for each event at 00:01 ON THE DAY (in reality = midnight before), OR when all allocated seats are taken.  Please ensure you read HERE for details of the APAT Eventbrite facility terms and conditions.

For ALL players who reserved a seat via the APAT Eventbrite facility then you must claim your reserved seat by turning up and registering/buying-in in full at the latest 30 MINS PRIOR to the advertised event start time - failure to do so will mean your seat will IMMEDIATELY be re-allocated (and if you turn up later than this then you will have to take a chance that a seat is available).

Online Holding Tanks - download the software for APAT/Grosvenor HERE and buy in via the Online Holding Tanks - navigate to Tournaments > Grosvenor Live > APAT.  This facility will close at 21:00 on Sunday 25th.

ALL players bought-in in advance either via the APAT/Grosvenor Online Holding tank or via direct entry with APAT (eg Online Satellite token or Added Value etc), will have their chips put into play at the start of the event and, if not seated, will be blinded out from the start - you DO NOT need to register in the venue prior to the event start - APAT will provide your name to the venue and register you into the event - so just turn up and take your seat (even if late arriving) - any player who registers and buys in at the venue will also have chips put into play at the start if they are not seated.

Event buy-in will be available at the Venue Poker Room Cash Desk on the day from 1 hour prior to each event on a first come basis for all remaining seats, and an Alternates List will be maintained for each event.  ]

We strongly recommend you turn up well in advance to buy-in on the day and allow for any time needed to gain entry to the venue (and join as a member, which you must be, to be able to play poker).

Team entry to the Team Championship on Wed/Thu is controlled by APAT and entry is available by APAT INVITATION ONLY.  

PLAYERS WHO HAVE BOUGHT-IN FOR MULTIPLE OVERLAPPING EVENTS

We recognise for WCOAP 2018, where we have a lot of multiple-day events, that not being able to multi-table may restrict event choices and enjoyment throughout the week, and therefore for WCOAP 2018 players WILL be allowed to multi-table where they are involved in Day 2 of an event ONLY, with the exception of the Main Event Final Table.

Examples:

Nobody can multi-table any events on Sunday 1st (as there are no 'Day 2' events that day) but if someone plays #6.1 (8-game) and makes Day 2 of the event being played on Monday 2nd, then they may play #3.1B Main Event Day 1B at the same time.

No player who makes the Main Event Final Table on Sunday 8th can multi-table - if any player qualifies for the the PLO Cash Championship as well, then they will be required to give up their seat on the Cash Final Table (obviously keeping whatever cash they have won!).

Anyone who has pre-bought/registered into multiple overlapping events on the same day, and is still playing event 1 when event 2 starts and therefore cannot play event 2 (because they cannot as they are not allowed to multi table same '1 day' events) then they must inform MYSELF BEFORE event 2 starts to ensure a refund - and at this time their seat will be made available to others - they may of course, on departure from the first tournament, then join the 2nd event or have their name added to the event Alternates List.  

PRIZES

Each exact event prize pool breakdown will be confirmed at the venue after the event has closed for further entries.

All Championship event winners (including the 4 members of the winning team from the Team Championship, and both members from the Tag Team Championship) will be awarded a coveted WCOAP Bracelet and the top 3 players (and teams) an APAT Gold, Silver and Bronze medal.

ADDED VALUE  

The Main Event Champion will win a GUKPT Main Event seat worth £560.

The player topping the Season 11 Player Of The Year Ranking Points Leaderboard will win a GUKPT Main Event seat worth £560.

The Champion of Champions will win a trip to Las Vegas from 25th Jun to 2nd Jul 2018, with return direct flights and 7 nights hotel accommodation (sole occupancy but may bring someone).

PLAYER OF THE SERIES - INCLUDING WCOAP ONLINE

The Player Of The Series will be identified as the player in the WCOAP 2018 who scores the most ranking points from all ranking events at the WCOAP 'live' and 'online'.  If 2 or more players top the POTS Leaderboard then it will be decided on most cashes, and then the highest finishing position in the Main Event.
