I fancied a trip out to a different casino to normal on Sunday , so took the road south for a change to the Walsall 3.30pm comp 3.5k
Played , lost my stack, rentered and sat down where I could see the TV for golf, got involved in a couple of small pots but nothing major
A hand played out where a player shoved all in for about 17000 chips, guy who action is on has around 11000 chips and asks 'how much is it'
Now I, as I ha e already rentered want the hands to flow to try and build my stack , so say 'more than you've got ' to the fella, in an attempt to get the decision made and game flow.
The player folds , and then turns to me and says 'I didn't like that move' to which I just shake my head at, as I've barely spoken to the player since I was sat down
The guy then started on me asking me If I wanted to go outside with him, where he would 'kill me' , to which I didn't reply as I didn't want to ignite the situation further. I believed the situation was gonna calm down before then , the same guy then started to insinuate that me and my friend were colluding at the table, which would have been strange as my phone and iPad were on the table behind me and had been for last 20-30 mins before this. Again I said nothing but continued to look at this 'gent' as he continued to stare at me.
He then started once again , asking me
'Are you coming outside with me you fat **** , you could do with the walk'
“Are you gay, because if you are I'm gonna beat the **** out of you”
Before moving on to telling me and his friends that he was going to stab me , as they were trying to calm him down, whilst I stayed In my seat the entire time and continued to say nothing to this, before the cardroom supervisor moved him to another table as he was a 'regular'
After 10-15 mins A supervisor called raj Came over to speak to me and my friend regarding allegedled colluding that this regular player had told the casino about. We spoke about this whilst I made my concerns about what the player had said to me was known but the supervisor did not seemed concerned by this issue.
When I sat back down, in my frustration that the situation was not being dealt with a good manner by the casino , I made a hand gesture to the player at the other table
Again some time passed before the supervisor came in again, and spoke to me again about the gesture I had given and asked me to leave, once again I mentioned the threats the verbal and homophobic and verbal assaults that the player in question had directed to
Me , to which the supervisor said they had already been dealt with but obviously hadn't as these were serious violent threats towards me as a customer at the casino and asked him outrightly if they were looking after him as he was a regular , and whether threats of violence, homophobic comments and comments about my weight and appearance were in any way comparable to the one hand gesture I had made after the event to the player.
I was told by the supervisor that 'I don't like your attitude and this is not the venue for you'
Again I was asked to leave and left.
Upon leaving, and knowing people who were playing at the casino later, I was then informed that the dealers had been informed by the card room
Manager and the supervisor that I had been disqualified for cheating, with no mention made to the regular player or about him for the rude insulting and violent threats he had made against me.
Due to the casinos lack of answering both failing to acknowledge there was a problem both on the day , and today by the casino manager , I have felt no option but to inform The police about the threats of violence by the player and comments to defame my character by Raj the supervisor and the card room manager there yesterday evening.
I want no sympathy, as I can understand my punishment for my hand gesture, which would be well justified if it was alongside a proportionate degree for the regular player, who was allowed to continue to play unhindered.
As has been said by the above, Raj the supervisor, and by association the whole of the team at Grosvenor, support violent threats, homophobic taunting and threatening someone based on their weight and appearance, (whether or not relevant to the person) towards non regulars, as no action was taken towards the regular and local player
I hope people who are not from the area consider whether Grosvenor Walsall is the right place to play if you are not from the area, or find another casino to play tournaments or cash where you may be more welcomed
