Sunday Second Chance
« on: November 01, 2008, 12:57:36 PM »
I played the Steps thing on Stars, started off at level one in for $7.50 and breezed past first two levels... got stuck on level three for a bit but was placing 3rd or 4th so getting to resit it - finally got there after 4th attempt and got the Step 4 ticket which allows you entry into any $215 tournament...

The obvious choice would be to go for the Sunday Warm Up or Million but as tempting as it is I don"t think I can face sitting down with 4k-8k players for an online game. So I thought I might have a bash at the Sunday Second Chance as the field seems to be on average 1,200 or so...

I was just wondering if anybody"s played this and  people"s opinions on whether I should go for the Warm Up or the Second Chance, I"m definitely not playing the Million but if the field in Second Chance is super tough I might have a go at warm up instead....

Warm Up Pros: 10k Starting Stack & Loads of Satellite entries.
Warm Up Cons: Massive field , way beyond what i"d ever really want to sit at or could realistically imagine winning.

Second Chance Pros: Smaller field and can see a better chance of cashing.
Second Chance Cons: Less satellite entries so possibly better players / more online pros etc. Less chips - only 3k starting stack...

I"ve played a few Sunday Majors before but never really dented their massive fields - think my best run was like two and a half hours once (only to go out on set over set)...

Should I go for Sunday Warm Up or Second Chance?

Opinions?

It"s under:

Sit & Go > Satellite

You can actually even use FPPs to get onto Step 1 or 2 for free:

60FPPs > 100 Runner SnG > Places 10th - 2nd get Step 1 tickets & 1st Place gets Step 2 ticket...

You should try it, it"s pretty good way to get into Sunday tournies if you can play STT SnGs half decent...

PS - You playing any poker tomorrow? Depends on what tournament I play online tomorrow but if I play the 2nd Chance I might go to the Stanley day game... If I play the Warm Up i"ll obv give both a miss. Rail me if you"re online tomorrow, need a bit o support! lol. Wont take long, i"ll be out in under an hour, promise  :D

Dont play at stars or FT at the moment so cant really make a decent suggestion but just out of curiosity on a side note due to the enormous MTT field sizes at PS/FT are there players that are prepared to go for lengths at a time folding everything but AA, KK looking to trap/double up?  I am guessing 8k roughly = 8 hours of play min for final table probably longer...

It"ll either be the Warm Up or the 2nd Chance - i"ll let you know once I decide...

I"m swaying at the moment, really dunno which one to play, any opinion on the matter Kenny?

I"m starting to sway back towards the Warm Up - although the field is huge it"s got a lot of play with 10k starting chips and has lots of satelliters so more average players than pros... then I think how big the field is. lol. Anybody any idea how long the Warm Up usually runs for on average?

I don"t know anyone who would sit and wait about for just AA and KK - there would be no point in playing if you were to do that imo. You need to PLAY the game not just the hands so I don"t think there"d be many players doing that. Plus what about the amount of times you see AA and KK busted... it"s like a lottery.

The Warm Up starts at 17:45, and I think it tends to run until around 3am.

After going for a nap before the 2nd Chance last weekend and sleeping right through it and missing it, I finally gave the Sunday Second Chance a go tonight with my Steps Ticket...

I finished 114th out of 1391 runners for $472.76 - my first cash in a Sunday major and not a bad return on $7.50... I went out when I had 10 bbs left and it was raised 3xBB before me, I have AK so shove over the top and of course the guy has Aces... ach well.
