OK the F1 final race in Brazil, what really happened was...
It rained v heavy as the race was about to start, so they delayed the start, by 10 minutes, to allow all the teams to run back to the pits collect a set of wet tyres and pull them up to the start line, and change the tyres on the grid, never seen that before.
Wets run about 20 seconds slower a lap than dry tyres, so they must stop and put dry"s on as soon as the track dries, or they get left behind on lap times.
5 laps from the end , it started to rain, the 3 main leaders had to decide to change or risk it.
As soon as the first team ran tyres out for changing, Mclaren and Ferrari, did the same not wanting to be left behind.
They all changed tyres on the same lap, taking the usual 45 seconds to stop
This left Lewis behind the car driven by Glock in 6th place who had decided to stay out and risk dry tyres.
Lewis had to finish in 5th or better to win the championship.
Felipe Massa the Brazilian Ferrari driver was in the lead and seemed sure to get ten points, so unless Massa spun off, or Lewis could overtake Glock he would be 2nd overall.
It had rained hardest on the last 2 bends before the finish straight, and when Glock got there , he slid off the race line , allowing Lewis to pass him.
The Ferrari team had already left the pits to welcome their hero as the new Champ, and it took a while for them to realise Lewis had done it, on the last bend.
The crowd were not happy, Ferrari were not happy, Lewis had won.
It was a good job he was not on the podium as they may have thrown bottles or worse at him.
