Free money???
« on: January 16, 2009, 09:51:40 AM »
Whilst waiting for the clickfest yesterday, I decided to withdraw some money from Party poker to pay for my seat (I do not really have a live poker bankroll). I changed my mind when I saw the exchange rate was a massive $1.50 for the £ plus a $2.50 charge. I then went to the deposit menu and found that I would only get $1.41 for my £ if i deposited!!

I then sent PP this email

Hi there
I noticed today that the exchange rate for depositing into my account gave me £1 = $1.41
Curious at this I tried the rate for withdrawing and found it to be £1 = $1.50 plus a $2.50 charge!!
This represents a massive disparity between depositing and withdrawing.

When I first set up this account (a few years back) I was very impressed that the exchange rate was always the same for depositing and withdrawing.

As for the $2.50 charge!! I think PP must be the only site that does this (if not it is certainly in the minority)
Could you explain why these charges are in place. I"m sure there is another company involved here and they get the profits from these deposits and withdrawals and not PP, but surely PP, in the interest of customer satisfaction, would not want their customers exposed to such charges.

I was going to do the 20% reload bonus here (A LIE!!) but the 20% bonus barely covers the charges for withdrawing at my stakes
I await your reply with interest

This was pretty quick

Dear Rob,

As per our records of the previous telephone conversation (WHAT!!)you had with one of our agents, we have gone a head and added a £ 7.86 bonus as a
good will gesture (GET IN THERE!!). However, please note that this is a one time exception and it will not be added in the future.

The exchange rate displayed at the Cashier and the Currency Converter thereat is intended as up-to-date estimates only. The exact rates of exchange will be those rates offered by us at the time of conversion (or other relevant point in time).

Please note that while we Endeavour to ensure that the information provided is accurate and up-to-date, exchange rates can be subject to rapid change and accordingly we are unable to make any promises or guarantees with regards to the accuracy, completeness or up-to-datedness' of the exchange rates displayed or the Currency Converter at the Cashier.

The exchange rates vary for deposits and cashouts as is the case with the policy of purchase and sale of currency adopted by banks and financial institutions.

The rate at which the payments are processed and deposits credited is the final and binding exchange rate prevailing at the point in time the funds are converted at our end.

Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site.

My bankroll had got to nearly $2k on Full Tilt a couple of weeks ago so I decided that if it was left in my account I would probably Tilt it off at some point in the future by playing too high / taking daft shots at $100 & $200 games. So anyway given that the exchange rate, while bad to deposit was GREAT time to withdraw so requested a cash out of $1,000...

Done a few sums and worked out based on Full Tilt"s exchange rate that day that I should"ve been getting £691 - when it went into the bank account it was just over £640 ... So £50 effectively went awol, probably due to something similar... Decided not to chase it up as with massively fluctuating exchange rates at present I would no doubt get palmed off with a pointless 5 paragraph response referring me to terms and conditions...  ::)
