I think the whole scenario just goes to show how APAT has grown over the last season. I remember my first ever APAT game in 2007 - Luton. It had 2 Day 1"s and over 300 runners iirc. Ever since then, I"ve kept an eye on the numbers and APAT always sells out...with more and more people lamenting the lack of seats.

I honestly believe that Season 3 (especially with the removal of the live regionals) is now the time for all APAT live events to move to 2 Day 1"s.

Stop complaining then, its the luck of the draw just like most people will tell you when you river the nuts.

the wee man failed to get a seat -- but he failed through no fault of either APAT ot their payment processor -- it happens like a bad beat. We will survive, but your comments bang63 are totally out of order. Des runs this to the highest level of integrity and your comments are quite frankly -- insulting..

First point about keeping an eye on the way APAT sells out, well it isn"t really upto them entirely on how many people can play its also the size of the casino aswell don"t forget, Iv"e been to Walsall a couple of times and the card room isn"t the biggest so 200 will be quite a crowd there.

Secondly, There can"t be 2 day 1"s for only 200 people. How would that work and how would you divide them into 2 groups? Shortest straw day 1 of 1 longest straw day 1 of 2? Also think of the cost that would entail if you had to exceed 2 day 1"s then a final day 2?

Every live APAT 2-day event has a capacity of 200 (with alternates now, but never more than 200 players at once). I used to do the live updates for these events, and interestingly enough my first one was at Walsall last year when Rich Offless won. Compared to Cardiff and Dublin (don"t know about Edinburgh as I"ve never been there), Walsall is actually easier to work at! You"ll have more of a crowd at the next 2 venues which are smaller (in Cardiff"s case some tables will be at the other end of the casino, they were last time I was there for a 200 runner event!).

If APAT moved to 2 Day 1"s, then people would be given the option to choose which Day they wanted when they bought in! We"ve had 2 Day 1"s before in other APAT tourneys and they"ve worked just fine.

But u cant have a smaller field on friday and then 200 playing on saturday. APAT is for amators and it"s a general rule that most of them will be working on a Friday.

I really dont understand, other than bank holiday weekends, why people keep going on about this.

bang... u are completly out of order with your comments, APAT have always run fair on everything, and Des and the team do a very good job, and imo if you dont like it go elsewhere, or take it as a bad beat, and move on to the next one and try again.

To those criticising clickfest, would just like to say that I am not an "old face".
This is the first time that I had ever tried to get in (after failing in satellites) and had no problem. It helps to be a quick typist!
I try so hard to be grumpy, and then along comes a smile!

If there was the option of two Day 1s obviously the Saturday would sell out fastest but i"m 100% sure that after the Saturday sold out there would be no problem filling the Friday. People that wanted in enough would get the day off work, it"s not like it"s a regular occurence. I work on Fridays but would most certainly get the day off work to play on a Friday if I couldn"t get a seat for a Saturday...

And whilst Des and Rich give up their weekends for APAT and the love of poker, it would be asking a hell of a lot to ask them to give up their holidays too!!
